Swimming Time Standards

Time standards are used to set qualifying benchmarks for swimmers at various levels of competition—from local meets to national championships. They help swimmers set goals and track their progress throughout the season.

At Maverick Aquatics, we follow USA Swimming’s official time standards. Use the links below to view the most up-to-date time standards by level and age group.

Para Swimming Time Standards

Para Swimming offers competitive opportunities for athletes with physical, visual, or intellectual impairments. Maverick Aquatics proudly supports Para athletes of all experience levels.

Understanding the Levels

Level Description
B / BB / A / AA Motivational time standards for age group swimmers. Great for goal setting.
State / Zones Qualifying times for state and regional competitions.
Sectionals / Futures Higher-level meets for advanced swimmers aiming to compete beyond their LSC.
Junior Nationals / Nationals Elite meets for top swimmers in the country.

How to Use Time Standards

  1. Find your age group.

  2. Compare your best times to the standards in each event.

  3. Set goals for your next level (e.g., move from B to A, or qualify for State or Sectionals).

  4. Track your progress with your coach during the season.
