Zeus Swimmers Shine at CT Swimming Championships with Record-Breaking Swims and Impressive Finishes!

Zeus’s championship season has been one for the ages, with the team turning in a series of AMAZING performances at Senior, Regional, and Age Group Championship Meets.

The action kicked off mid-February with Senior Champs where Zeus swimmers proved their mettle.  Zeus placed 3rd on the men’s side, 7th on the women’s and 7th overall.  In all, our swimmers hit the podium 15 times, tallying 2 Gold, 5 Silver and 8 Bronze Medals.  Our medalists include Natalia Ferranto, Wyatt Vitiello, Kate Fedor, Abby Bliel, Julia Stidolph, Mike Kvaschuk, and Rian Herrmann.  Special shout out to Kate and Wyatt for taking home Zeus’ TWO GOLDS in the 100 Back and 200 Back, respectively.  Zeus team records also fell during the weekend, with Wyatt, Julia, Kate and Rian all lowering individual standards, in addition to the foursome of Kate, Abby, Julia and Natalia in the 200 Medley Relay.

The next weekend found Zeus at Regional Championships - on Friday at the Greenwich YMCA and on Saturday and Sunday at Southern Connecticut State University.  ZEUS WAS AWESOME!  Our women captured the Regional Championship - finishing first overall - while our men finished an outstanding 3rd.  The weekend saw far "too many to count" personal bests - - along with an awfully impressive number of individual and relay event winners including Abby Asante, Addison Asuncion, Emily Behr, Katie Brennan, Victoria Burdzicki, Maddie Camille, Ashley Carvente, Sonia Chadha, Gabriel Diaz, Adrian Fryc, Luke Hariton, Hannah Looney, Madison Marini, Ben Mao, Nicolas Mitican, Nico Mora, Noah Mora, Caitlyn Natalie, Brendan Natlo, Isabella Ovares, Francesca Siano, Stella Stidolph, Emily Thompson, Cooper Ulrich, Lilian Weber, Empress West, Makeda West, and Marabella Zullo.

Age Groups was the last stop on the CT SWIM tour on March 7-10th at UCONN’s Wolff-Zackin Natatorium.  Zeus was again outstanding.  When all points were tallied, our 11-12 boys finished 4th out of nearly 50 teams, and Zeus landed at an impressive 13th Place OVERALL!  Leading the way for Zeus were Greg Pogosian and Wyatt Vitiello, who took home high point awards in the 11-12 and 13-14 divisions, respectively, with each swimmer lowering Zeus team records along the way!  The 11-12 relay of Pogosian, Julian Ovares, Gabriel Diaz and Cooper Ulrich finished in the Top 6 in each of the four relays they raced.  Not to be outdone, our fearsome 10/under girls’ twosome of Isabella Ovares and Caitlyn Natalie dominated their races, swimming a combined 8 for 8 best times!

What a season of racing for all of our athletes!

With the CT Swimming championship season in the rearview mirror, we now have set our sights on the upcoming Sunkissed Invitational and the Long Course season. After such an outstanding performance this season, we are CLEARLY ready to continue dominating in the pool.

Go Zeus!
