Age Range:
6-9 years old

Description:
Rockets group is for young swimmers who want to start a competitive experience in swimming. Each swimmer with work on learning proper technique for Freestyle and Backstroke and will be introduced to Breaststroke and Butterfly. Each swimmer will work towards competing in official swim meets.

Emphasis will be on fine-tuning these three first strokes with a heavy emphasis on kicking and drill work.

Swimmers will work on competitive starts.

Pre-Assessment:
Learners must demonstrate the following skills:

• Streamlined glide and kick on front and back 25 yards.
• Relaxed roll from back to front and front to back.
• Demonstrate controlled Freestyle and Backstroke arm and leg action 25 yards.

Learning Intention:
Developing legal Freestyle and Backstroke swimming skills and to introduce Breaststroke and Butterfly.

Learning Outcomes:
Learners should be able to consistently demonstrate the following criteria:

• 25 yards legal Freestyle
• 25 yards legal Backstroke
• 25 Breaststroke leg action
• 25 Butterfly leg action
• Legal starts for Freestyle and Backstroke
