Thunder

Age range:
9-11 years old

Description:
Thunder group is only for swimmers 11 and under who are experienced at the age group level of competitive swimming. Each swimmer with work on learning proper technique for four strokes and they will work towards competing in official swim meets. Emphasis will be on fine-tuning on four strokes with a heavy emphasis on kicking and drill work. Swimmers will work on competitive starts and turns.

Pre-Assessment:
Learners must demonstrate the following skills:

• 25 yards legal Freestyle
• 25 yards legal Backstroke
• 25 Breaststroke leg action
• 25 Butterfly leg action

Learning Intention:
Developing legal Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly and official starts and turns.

Learning Outcomes:
Learners should be able to consistently demonstrate the following criteria:

• 50 yards legal Freestyle with start and flip turn.
• 50 yards legal Backstroke with start and flip turn.
• 50 yards legal Breaststroke, pull -out, start and open turn.
• 50 yards legal Butterfly .
• 100 yards legal Freestyle.
• 100 yards legal individual medley.

Lesson duration: 
1 hour max, 4-5x per week.

Equipment:
Kickboard pullboy and Rubber Swim Fins.
