Arkansas Swimming is now accepting applications for the Junior Athlete Representative.
Application Deadline: Friday, February 20, 2026, by 12:00 p.m.
About the Junior/Senior Athlete Representative Role
The Junior/Senior Athlete Representative serves as an important leadership position within Arkansas Swimming. This role is not a popularity contest, but a respected leadership opportunity elected by athlete peers. Because of the responsibility associated with this position, each candidate must submit the following by noon on February 20, 2026:
- Completed application
- Letter of intent
- Signed statement of commitment
- Three letters of recommendation
Completed application packets will serve as nominations for the election. Elections will take place at the ARSI Senior Championship Meet. Each candidate’s Letter of Intent will be posted on the ARSI website so athletes across the LSC may review the candidates prior to voting.
Expectations & Time Commitment
Athlete Representatives are expected to:
- Attend the Fall House of Delegates Meeting (approximately 4 hours).
- Participate in Arkansas LSC Board of Directors conference calls (approximately 8 per year, 1 hour each).
- Attend the USA Swimming National Meeting in Denver, CO, September 23–26, 2026, which may require missing 2–3 days of school.
- Organize and lead communication efforts with each club’s athlete representative through conference calls and in‑person meetings (approximately 10 hours per year).
- The Junior and Senior Athlete Representatives will collaborate on these responsibilities.
Eligibility Criteria
Each Athlete Representative must:
- Be a USA Swimming Athlete Member in good standing.
- Be at least 16 years old or a sophomore in high school.
- Be currently competing, or have competed within the past three years in an ARSI or other LSC program.
- Reside within the Arkansas LSC territory and expect to remain for at least the first half of the term.
Letter of Intent Requirements
The Junior Athlete Representative serves on the Arkansas Swimming Board of Directors, and applicants should demonstrate strong leadership potential. The Letter of Intent must:
- Be no longer than 2 pages (minimum 10‑point font)
- Address the following areas:
- History of leadership or management experience
- Defining moments in your leadership journey
- Significant leadership challenges you have faced
- Swimming achievements
- Potential contributions as an Athlete Representative
- Current community service involvement
Additional Information - The Junior Athlete Representative automatically transitions into the Senior Athlete Representative role. If the current Senior Athlete Representative is unable to fulfill their duties, the Senior position will be elected at the same time as the Junior Athlete Representative.
