Why become an official?

As a parent of a swimmer you have the opportunity to be involved with your child and their sport in various ways. One very instrumental way is by being trained, certified, and working as an Official. Officials are present at all competitions to implement the technical rules of swimming and to ensure that the competition is fair and equitable to everyone. Being an official also gives you a chance to be involved and learn more about the sport of swimming.

  • Best seat in the house:
As an official, you get to be poolside at every race, observing the finer points of stroke technique and seeing the competition unfold close-up.
  • Learn the intricacies of swimming:
By studying the rules and officiating, you gain a deeper understanding of stroke mechanics, turns, and finishes, which can enhance your appreciation for the sport.

Officiating is a volunteer role that helps support your local swim club and ensures the smooth operation of swim meets.
