WALL OF FAME

INDIANA SWIMMING & DIVING WALL OF FAME

Indiana University Natatorium - Indianapolis

Since its debut 23 years ago, the Indiana University Natatorium has become a mecca for United States athletes. It has been the home of 13 U.S. Olympic Team Trials and boasts
120 American and 18 world records. .

The Hoosier State has contributed a distinguished group of swimmers to international competition over the years, including impressive Olympic statistics of 35 Gold, 17 Silver, and 16 Bronze Medals in the ultimate competition against the world’s greatest swimmers. In 1982, an Indiana Swimming & Diving Wall of Fame was established in the Natatorium to recognize Hoosier Olympians in the sports of swimming and diving. At that time, a selection committee painstakingly researched records maintained by the U.S. Olympic Committee to identify these distinguished Hoosier athletes and established the criteria for induction.

In order to be considered and included as an Indiana Olympic swimmer or diver, the athlete must have been an Indiana resident or a non-resident who has been a member of a recognized Indiana swim club. This includes students enrolled at Indiana colleges or universities at the time they qualify as a member of the U.S. Olympic Swimming or Diving Team.

To be considered as an Indiana swimming or diving coach, the individual must have coached and developed the talents of an Indiana Olympic swimmer or diver and must be the officially designated coach of a recognized Indiana swim team, including colleges and universities.
