Blue Group Documents from the Coach

Experienced 9-10 year old.  Blue athletes love swimming and they enjoy competing at meets. Many blue level swimmers are involved in other sports but want to swim year-round.  Blue level swimmers may only compete locally or also travel regionally for meets.  These swimmers are legal, or close to legal, in all four strokes, starts, and turns and exposed to increasing levels of endurance training, speed work, and endurance training.  Swimmers in this group are recommended to attend 70% or more of the offered practices and attend most of the recommended swim meets.  Objectives are to refine techniques, increase stamina, pursue IMR/IMX scores, attend championship meets, and set goals towards qualifying for meets with time standards (A, JO, AAA, etc.)

Please review the Practice schedule (found under the "Swim Team" menu) and the Equipment Checklist (found under the "Athlete Info" menu)

General Information

USA-Swimming IMR/IMX Program - Swimmers should focus on entering the events within the IMR and IMX event lineup below over the course of each season.  This will ensure you obtain a score based on power points that you can follow on the USA-Swimming website or on your Deck Pass Account.  Swimmers in their first years should work to get an "IM Ready" score - swimmers compete in a series of five events at shorter distances. Below, we've listed the line-up by age groups.  When swimmers are ready to move forward, the next step is to work towards an IM Xtreme (IMX) score. The IMX ranking includes a series of five or six events at longer distances. Once you've completed the IMX program, you can find out where your IMX score ranks nationally, within your zone, within your LSC and on your club.
