Read the Original "Early Years" Journals from Dayton Team Founder "Mac" Preston

Here is a treat for all swimming enthusiasts!  We have stumbled onto a real treasure - the original, yellow-tattered journals from the Dayton Raiders (Dolphins) founder Coach "Mac" Preston.  Coach Preston passed away in Georgia in 2004.  However, his daughter, Ammee Burgess, found these Gem City Classics and tracked us down.  We thank Aimee from the bottom of our hearts for not letting these go!  Today's electronic capabilities allow us to keep these journals alive forever.  A special thanks goes out to former Raider parent Randy Shively and current Raider parent Tammy Sickinger for helping with the painful electronic conversion that took a long time to complete.

When you have some time, dive into these -- you will be glad you did.  These are very well written and very interesting.  Anyone with interest in Dayton youth history, regardless of their knowledge of swimming, will enjoy these treasures that provide a glimpse of personalities, youth sports of yesteryear, and how things have changed (and not changed) in the last half century.

Cheers!
