USMS Open Water National Championship Marathon Swim (10K)  

10k and 5k - June 8th, 2024

 1.5k and 2.5k - June 9th, 2024   

 

Registration Deadlines

Online registration for the 1.5k and 2.5k closes 11:59PM on 6/6/24.

Entry Fees

Pre-race   -   $55 for one race / $70 for both

Race day registration  -  $75 for one race / $90 for both  

T-shirt  -  $15 Pre-Order - by 5/1 while suppies last  - Limited Quantities available race day for $20

USMS Just for Fun Division (for 1,5k and 2.5k events only): Fins or pull buoy allowed – proceeds benefitting a charity to be determined.  Swimmers in this division will start in the USMS category-2 wave. Fins must consist of soft rubber material with a length of no more than two feet and are subject to approval by the referee for safety reasons.

Race Day Timeline

Park Opens - 6:00AM Registration Opens - 6:45AM 

Registration for the 1.5K race will close at 8:00AM. Registration for the 2.5K closes at 9:15AM

Race Start/Cutoff Times

The 1.5K swim begins at 8:30 A.M. and the 2.5K swim begins at 10:00 A.M. Race start times are approximate.

Cutoff times are 50 minutes for the 1.5K swim and 90 minutes for the 2.5k swim. 

Swimmers will be seeded in waves fast to slow.  “No Time” entries will be seeded in the slowest wave.  Wetsuits will be seeded in a separate wave. The waves will be denoted by different color caps and start 5-10 minutes apart.

2.5k swimmers not passing turn buoy 6, 85 minutes from the start will be disqualified and removed from the course by safety personnel. 

USMS Awards

  • Medals will be given to the first 3 finishers in each sex/age in the Category 1 (non-wetsuit division) and Category 2 (Wetsuit division) (18-24, 25-29, etc.)  in each race.

Youth Awards

  • Medals will be given to the first 3 finishers in each sex/age group (11-12, 13-14, 15-16, 17-18) in each race.  
  • Note: For Youth athletes, age determination will be following World Aquatic Competition Guidelines specifically section 25.2.1:
    • All Age Group athletes remain qualified from 1st January to the following 31 December at the age they are at the close of day (23:59) on 31st December of the year of the competition.

Preliminary results for races will be posted on site 30 min after the last swimmer in both races finish. Official results will be posted on this site and on www.trivalleymasters.com

Conditions/Safety

Expected water temperature: 78-80 degrees. Each course is patrolled by safety craft. Participants should be adequately trained for open water swims of this length. Previous experience in similar water conditions is highly recommended. All swimmers must wear the provided swim cap and follow all USMS rules. 

Warm-up in designated roped in swim area only–swimming outside of this area for warm up will result in disqualification.
