USMS Open Water National Championship Marathon Swim (10K)  

10K and 5k - June 8th, 2024

 1.5K and 2.5K - June 9th, 2024   

 

Registration Deadlines

Online registration for the 10k closes 11:59PM on 6/1/24 or when race participant limit is reached.

Online registration for the 5k closes 11:59PM on 6/6/24 or when race participant limit is reached.

Entry Fees

Pre-race   -   10k $83 (includes Natioanal Championship fee

5k $80 

Race day registration  -  5k only  $90  

10k must be pre-entered by 6/1/24  

No race day registration for 10k

Race Day Timeline

Park Opens - 6:00AM. 

Registration is from 6:45 to 8:00 A.M.

Race Start/Cutoff Times

The 10k swim starts at 8:30 A.M.  5k swim waves will begin at 8:35 A.M.

There will be one wave for the 10km and 1-2 waves for the 5km race. Race start times are approximate.

The waves will be denoted by different color caps and start 5-10 minutes apart.

  ******Cutoff Times****** 

Cutoff time will be 12:00 P.M. for both races.  10k swimmers not passing turn buoy 6 after their third lap 2 1/2 hours from the start will be directed to swim to shore from turn buoy 6 and disqualified.  5k swimmers not passing turn buoy 6 after their first lap 85 minutes from the start will be directed to swim to shore from turn buoy 6 and be disqualified.

 

 

 

 

 

USMS Awards

  • USMS Open Water National Championship Marathon Swim (10K) medals will be given to the first 6 finishers in each sex/age in the Category 1 (non-wetsuit division) (18-24, 25-29, etc.). One-Event participants are not eligible for medals in the 10K swim
  • Medals will be given to the first 3 finishers in each sex/age in the Category 1 (non-wetsuit division) and Category 2 (Wetsuit division) (18-24, 25-29, etc.)  in the 5K race.

Youth Awards

  • Medals will be given to the first 3 finishers in each sex/age group (11-12, 13-14, 15-16, 17-18) in each race.

  • Note:  For Youth athletes, age determination will be following World Aquatic Competition Guidelines specifically section 25.2.1:
    • All Age Group athletes remain qualified from 1st January to the following 31 December at the age they are at the close of day (23:59) on 31st December of the year of the competition.

Preliminary results for races will be posted on site 30 min after the last swimmer in the 10k race finishes. Official results will be posted on www.trivalleymasters.com and www.pacificmasters.org   

Conditions/Safety

 

Expected water temperature: 78-80 degrees. Each course is patrolled by safety craft. Participants should be adequately trained for open water swims of this length. Previous experience in similar water conditions is highly recommended. All swimmers must wear the provided swim cap and follow all USMS rules. 

Warm-up in designated roped in swim area only–swimming outside of this area for warm up will result in disqualification.
