What is an evaluation?
Evaluations are 15-minute swim tests performed by senior staff to determine which stroke school level or program is best for the swimmer based on their skill level. Your swimmer is ready for an evaluation when they can safely swim 25 yards freestyle or backstroke. An evaluation is a necessary first step to joining our programs, please email us at [email protected] to be scheduled for an evaluation.
What do we teach during lessons?
We teach everything from blowing bubbles to advanced stroke techniques. Instructors modify their teaching based on the specific skill level and goals of individual swimmers. Our expertise can benefit everyone from first-time swimmers to long-time athletes.
When are Swim Lessons offered?
Swim lessons are offered year-round (weather permitting) Monday-Friday until 6:30 pm and Saturday mornings, subject to availability.
What happens if it rains?
We always swim in the rain! As long as there is no lighting and the lifeguards permit it the fun won't stop! When there is lighting the swimmers will do dry land conditioning indoors.
Are there discounts for multiple swimmers from the same family?
Yes! For swim lessons, you may combine lessons to purchase a larger package at a lower rate. For camp, you may receive $25 off per week for registering multiple swimmers.
How do I register?
Registration can now be submitted by following the links at the bottom of each page, or in person at the Hurricane Aquatics office after your swimmers evaluation.
Who are the instructors and counselors?
We recruit our staff from the Miami area and the UM community. Our staff includes swimmers of all backgrounds, some of whom have competed on an international level.
