Theo's AWESOME dipBABY & ME

Swim Class, is not your typical

"ring around the rosey" class.

We teach real swimming.

This is a parent participation swim class. We teach you the Parent to teach your child to swim!

1.  BABY/ME swim class- Parent and child (infants 16 week - toddlers 36 months) work together with the coaches to learn skills including back floats, submersions (not forced) & rollover, independent self breathing, with introduction to strokes, through fun positive reinforcement, cues & lots of hugs and kisses, a family environment with expert instruction.
A 3 month minimum enrollment is recommended, to understand and benefit from the BABY/ME progression curriculum.

2. NEWBORN HOME VISITDID YOU KNOW YOU CAN BEGIN TEACHING YOUR NEWBORN AS EARLY AS 5 WEEKS OLD? A 5 class session. We will teach you the first 2 steps of conditioning and adaptation from the privacy of your own home, in your bathtub. Then proceed to teach you to teach your newborn the joy of lying on their backs and tummy time in the warm bath water.

3. WATER SMART:  Parent Participation is required to help building confidence, as well as BALANCE, in the water.

If your child is reluctant, cautious, hesitant and not yet comfortable in the water,  the WATER SMART class may be a perfect class to start.

A CONFIDENCE BUILDING CLASS- for children 2+ years and older who are uncomfortable in and/or around the water environment
This class is for a new swimmer who had an unfortunate or tramatic aquatic experience and is reluctant to comfortably stand or not be able to move independently in water up to their waist without holding on to the edge of pool or adult.

~ WATER SMART-CONFIDENCE builder class is for the child that has been dependent on floatation devises for their water experience or has had an unfortunate water experience.

~ WATER SMART-CONFIDENCE builder class will quickly teach confidence and independence, as well as, the initial skills of putting their face in the water, buoyancy, balance and independent movement in the water.

Once a child 4 years + achieves independent movement and able to submerge their face and head under the water, children will be referred to Arlington Park Swim Class May - October, and Sarasota Swim Academy.

Children under 4 years old will continue in the Baby/Me program, with Parent advancing to learn and teach their child  independence, proper body position, air exchange and kick/stroke work.

4. "SUE NAMI's Swimming Journey" is the perfect children's pre-swim class book and tool to help with your child's water awareness, and to begin their swimming journey in the comfort of their home or classroom OUTSIDE OF THE WATER, even before they start their in-water swim class.

Children 3 years and younger are required to wear a swim diaper. If child is not yet bathroom trained, they need to wear a double swim diaper, cloth swim diaper over a disposable swim diaper.

Now available: Virtual/Remote Baby/Me swim class
Once a week, a video swim drill will be emailed to you. The drill will demonstrate a specific skill, from beginner to advanced technique. These are the same drills that are shown in our regular classes, however, you can practice them at home. Even in the bathtub.

4 necessary ABILITIES to achieve swimming SKILLS

BREATH, BALANCE, BUOYANCY & PROPULSION
3 CLASS OBJECTIVES or SKILLS
1. Independently lift face and mouth out of the water   2. Back float    3. SWIM / PROPULSION

This is ALSO the PERFECT segue to swimming for parent and child that have already achieved the rollover to backfloat - "doggy paddle",  holding your breath and
swimming under the water is NOT swimming.

2 year old KYLE and mom Elizabeth, work as a team, with lots of patience,
Smiles and encouragement.
He now swims all 4 strokes, with proper breathing and continues to be
a strong and confident swimmer.

Chloe, her Mom & Dad worked together
as a team.
Resulting in a wonderful SWIMMER due to that successful teamwork.
NEXT goal - 25 yards freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke

Ryan's parents had a fun time and lots of joy in teaching our new swimmer.

THIS IS NOT A RACE, BUT A JOURNEY!

There is no time limit teaching these skills, but a constant daily practice, which can be viewed as playtime, with lots of hugs, kisses, smiles and positive happy reinforcement. ...
if you do not have access to a pool...Daily practice should continue in the bathtub....independent hands, holding onto the side of the pool, back floating with ears in the water, Water on head and face.........

The pool is not a place for play.  If your child is in the pool (or bathtub), we urge parents to incorporate ALL SKILLS and DRILLS as an interactive practice, encouraging your child to work on their water adaptation,  breath exchange, kicking and independent mobility on the surface of the water.
