Sarah grew up swimming competitively in Jacksonville, and was coached by John when she was younger! Before she moved to Gainesville to attend UF, Sarah swam for Planet Swim Aquatics, where she competed at the State, Sectional, and Futures championship levels. As a high-school swimmer, Sarah was an FHSAA top-6 finisher in the 100 backstroke, a two-time state champion in the 200 medley relay, and a two-time runner-up in the 200 free relay. Sarah is in her junior year at UF, and plans to go to veterinary school after she graduates. In her free time, she enjoys running and riding horses!

Matt grew up in Illinois and comes from a family of four swimmers. After high school, Matt continued his swimming career competing for the University of Illinois–Chicago, Indian River Community College, and lastly Florida Atlantic University. Throughout his college career, he garnered All-Conference and All-American status.
Matt began his coaching career in 2010 with Westmont Swim Club. After his first season, he was promoted to Head Assistant Coach and while involved with all age groups, he was the primary 10 & under coach. After three years with Westmont he was recruited to the position of Head Age Group Coach with Patriot Aquatic Club in Lincolnshire, Illinois, where he spent a year there leading all of PAC’s 14 & under swimmers. In 2014, he joined the coaching staff at SPAC in Orange Park and then went with Coach John to Storm Swim Club.
Matt is very excited for the opportunity to share his passion and enthusiasm for swimming with the talented athletes at Gator Swim Club and supporting them in being the best they can be both in and out of the pool.

Nick Sandora
Dryland Coordinator
|
Originally from Philadelphia, Coach Nick grew up playing baseball and wrestling. He has lived in Gainesville for 21 years, where he has worked as a physical therapist assistant for the last 18. Nick is married to an exceptional occupational therapist and swim mom Arin with two kids, Francesca and Eli. Fran swims in GSC's Orange group and Eli is still exploring his options. The Sandoras own a farm in Alachua that is currently occupied by donkeys, turkeys, and chickens, and ducks, along with their two dogs Apollo and Journey. Coach Nick loves working with the youth in our area—seeing their personal goals and accomplishments is a great motivator for him and we are grateful to have him working with GSC in our dryland sessions!
