 John Hulvey
 Head Coach
 
Coach John has been the GSC head coach since May of 2021 after 11 years in Jacksonville, most recently as the head coach of Loggerhead Aquatics. In two years Loggerhead rose from a top-400 ranked program to 74th nationally in 2021. Swimmers in the program rewrote the team's Top 5 record board and qualified for numerous national meets, including Olympic Trials. The senior program came out of 2021 Senior Champs with a combined score of 3rd in the North division placing two 1&2 finishes in the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays. Over the past five years, Huley's swimmers have contributed to four FHSAA state titles and three runner-ups in 3A and 4A. Swimmers in Loggerhead's class of 2021 are continuing their swimming collegiately at Florida State (3), Tampa, Indian River, Naval Academy (2), Thomas, Rollins, Georgia Tech, and Florida Institute of Technology.
Coach Hulvey began his coaching career as a high school swim/dive and water polo coach while teaching at Coral Gables High School in Miami right after graduating from the University of Florida. After time at Spartan Aquatic Club as a head coach and the University of North Florida as a volunteer assistant coach, Coach John was head coach and owner of Storm Swim Club for four years in which he produced two National qualifiers, three Junior National qualifiers, eleven Futures qualifiers, two individual FHSAA champions, and three Florida LSC recordholders. Storm placed graduating seniors into schools to swim including; LSU, FSU, West Florida, Tampa, Washington University, Chicago, FIT, and Indian River.
Coach Hulvey has served on numerous Florida Zone Team staffs, Florida All-Stars staffs, and has held various positions within the Florida LSC.
Coach John's primary groups are Pre-Senior, Senior State, and Senior National while also working with all Gator coaches to promote a fun and competitive atmosphere in all of our training groups! As a Gainesville native, he is excited to bring his energy and experience to GSC.
 
 
  Jason Tillotson

Jason has been involved in the Florida Swimming LSC nearly his entire life. Growing up swimming for Swim Florida Cape Coral, he has competed on multiple Florida Swimming Zone Teams, All-Star Teams, and Open Water Zone Teams, and earned several FHSAA Top-8 finishes for Cape Coral High School. Jason went on to achieve USA Summer Junior National, and Open Water National time standards while in high school before earning a spot on American University’s roster. During his time at AU, Jason posted program top-16 times in the 400 IM, 200 BR and 100 BR, as well as multiple relays. 
 
After graduating from AU, Jason continued to coach at Nation's Capital Swim Club while helping also a volunteer assistant coach at Georgetown University and American University for a season apiece. Jason also served as head coach of Georgetown Visitation Prep School and Chevy Chase Country Club. In 2022, Jason moved from Washington, DC, to Naples to serve as the lead Senior coach at T2 Aquatics.
 
 
  Rob Ramirez
  Director of Developmental Swimming
 
Coach Rob comes to GSC after retiring from the Alachua County School Board. Rob spent his entire career 38 years at A. Quinn Jones Center, a Title I school that serves our emotionally challenged youth. The first 15 years were spent implementing the first full-time K-12 Physical Education program with a Adaptive Physical Endorsement, followed by 23 years as Dean of Students and 35 years coaching the boys and girls swimming and diving teams at Gainesville High School. During this time he was inducted into the University of Florida's College of Health and Human Performance alumni class 2020 Hall of Fame .
 
He was also named Coach of the Year two times with the girls, 3A 2015, 3A 2016, and two times for boys, 2011 All Classifications, 3A 2013. While coaching at Gainesville High School he won two state titles as well as coaching several team and individual city, district, regional, and state champions. Rob has coached many All-Americans and Academic All-Americans. In 2010, Gainesville's high school City Championships was named in his honor for his contributions to high school swimming and education.
 
Rob's high school career was spent at Winter Park High School swimming under legendary coach Skip Foster. While at WPHS Coach Rob won a state team title, individual and relay state titles, and was All-American. Rob finished his swimming career at University of Florida under Coach Randy Reese. He also swam for Florida Aquatic Swim Team (FAST), winning several team national ttles. Honors at Florida include being a five-time All-American, two team SEC titles, and two top three team finishes at NCAAs.
 
Rob has been married to his lovely wife Susan for 33 years and have two wonderful daughters, Lily and Carly. Lily swam at Gainesville High School and University of Florida and is currently a lawyer in Miami. Carly also swam on our state champion team of 2015 and graduated from University of Florida . She is now a special education teacher at Chiles Elementary School. Proud to say Coach Rob's entire family are University of Florida graduates. He is very excited to have the opportunity to work with GSC's young gators.
 
 
 
  Othmane Elamrani

Othmane is originally from Morocco but grew up in Clermont where he swam competitively for South Lake Aquatic Club for 13 years. He also coached for SLAC for 3 years, and is excited to bring his experience to Gator Swim Club! Othmane is a freshman at UF, studying biology.
 
 
 
  Nick Eunice
  Coach (Green, Blue, Orange)
 
Nick grew up in Gainesville, where he competitively swam for Gator Swim Club for four years. After being an All American athlete in high school, he attended the University of Florida on a swimming scholarship. He has since stepped away from college swimming and now is junior at UF pursuing an anthropology degree. In his free time Nick is the captain of the Florida Club Swim team at UF and enjoys spending time with his dog, Poppy.
 
 
  Brennan Gravley
  Coach (Green, Blue, Senior)
 
Brennan grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he swam for the Sandpipers of Nevada for 15 years. He attended the University of Florida and swam as a Gator from 2019-2023. During his time as an athlete, Brennan was a Pan American Games gold medalist, a 3-time U.S. Open Water Nationals Champion, and a 3-time member of the U.S. World Championship team. As a coach with GSC, Brennan hopes that he can make a positive impact with athletes in and out of the water, while also using his experiences as an athlete to help guide swimmers toward excellence.
 
 
 
  Emma Grimm

Emma grew up swimming competitively in Jacksonville, where Coach John was her coach when she was younger! Before she moved to Gainesville to attend UF, Emma swam for Planet Swim Aquatics, where she competed at the State, Sectional, and Futures championship levels. As a high-school swimmer, Emma was an FHSAA top-4 finisher in the 50 free and 100 breaststroke, a two-time state champion in the 200 medley relay, and a two-time runner-up in the 200 free relay. Emma is in her junior year at UF, and wants to go to veterinary school after she graduates. In her free time, she enjoys running and going to the beach!
 
 
 
  Sarah Grimm
  Coach (Pre-comp, White, Blue)

Sarah grew up swimming competitively in Jacksonville, and was coached by John when she was younger! Before she moved to Gainesville to attend UF, Sarah swam for Planet Swim Aquatics, where she competed at the State, Sectional, and Futures championship levels. As a high-school swimmer, Sarah was an FHSAA top-6 finisher in the 100 backstroke, a two-time state champion in the 200 medley relay, and a two-time runner-up in the 200 free relay. Sarah is in her junior year at UF, and plans to go to veterinary school after she graduates. In her free time, she enjoys running and riding horses!

 
 
  Sue Halfacre
  Coach (Masters)
 
Coach Sue has a long history with Florida swimming, having been the first coach of the University of Florida women's program. In addition to coaching the Masters group for GSC, Sue is the director of the Florida Gator Splash Club. Sue also competes with the Masters group, having been most recently at the 2018 Pan American Masters Championships.

Jen developed her chlorine addiction at age 12 when she joined Greater Columbus Swim Team of Ohio, and never fully recovered, having worked as a lifeguard, head lifeguard, pool manager, swim instructor, and coach, anything to be near a pool! Outside of swimming, she also pursues photography and volunteers with the Boxer Aid and Rescue Coalition.
 
 
 
  Matt Pavlik
  Coach (Senior)

Matt grew up in Illinois and comes from a family of four swimmers. After high school, Matt continued his swimming career competing for the University of Illinois–Chicago, Indian River Community College, and lastly Florida Atlantic University. Throughout his college career, he garnered All-Conference and All-American status.

Matt began his coaching career in 2010 with Westmont Swim Club. After his first season, he was promoted to Head Assistant Coach and while involved with all age groups, he was the primary 10 & under coach. After three years with Westmont he was recruited to the position of Head Age Group Coach with Patriot Aquatic Club in Lincolnshire, Illinois, where he spent a year there leading all of PAC’s 14 & under swimmers. In 2014, he joined the coaching staff at SPAC in Orange Park and then went with Coach John to Storm Swim Club.

Matt is very excited for the opportunity to share his passion and enthusiasm for swimming with the talented athletes at Gator Swim Club and supporting them in being the best they can be both in and out of the pool. 

 
 
  Nick Sandora
  Dryland Coordinator

Originally from Philadelphia, Coach Nick grew up playing baseball and wrestling. He has lived in Gainesville for 21 years, where he has worked as a physical therapist assistant for the last 18. Nick is married to an exceptional occupational therapist and swim mom Arin with two kids, Francesca and Eli. Fran swims in GSC's Orange group and Eli is still exploring his options. The Sandoras own a farm in Alachua that is currently occupied by donkeys, turkeys, and chickens, and ducks, along with their two dogs Apollo and Journey. Coach Nick loves working with the youth in our area—seeing their personal goals and accomplishments is a great motivator for him and we are grateful to have him working with GSC in our dryland sessions!

 

  Marc Shahboz
  Coach (Green, Orange, Senior)
 
Marc has been coaching swimming for more than 10 years and involved in the sport for about 40 years. He started coaching while in college at FSU for the Maclay Blue Dolphins and joined the Gator Swim Club coaching staff in 2016.
 
Originally from Miami, Marc swam with a number of outstanding coaches from the area, including Olympian Robert Strauss at the Hurricane Swim Club, Al Sheeler from Sheeler Winton Swim Club, and Kirk Peppas at Metro Aquatics. Marc swam and played water polo at Columbus HS and played water polo while attending FSU. As a Masters swimmer Marc achieved a number of top 10 US times and was ranked as high as 2nd in the US in the 40–44 age group for the 100m backstroke.
 
Marc is the lead professor of Santa Fe College’s award-winning Digital Media Baccalaureate program. He holds a MFA from the University of Florida and Baccalaureate of Science in Psychology from Florida State University. Marc and his wife Joyce have both competed on American Ninja Warrior.
 
 
 
  Joshua Stidham
  Coach (Orange)

Josh came to GSC after graduating from Barton College in Wilson, NC, with Bachelor of Science degrees in biology and psychology. While at Barton, Josh was a 4-year member of the men's swimming team, where he was a captain during his junior year. Josh brings a background of coaching and swim instruction to his role at GSC, and is currently applying to medical school.
