Coach John has been the GSC head coach since May of 2021 after 11 years in Jacksonville, most recently as the head coach of Loggerhead Aquatics. In two years Loggerhead rose from a top-400 ranked program to 74th nationally in 2021. Swimmers in the program rewrote the team's Top 5 record board and qualified for numerous national meets, including Olympic Trials. The senior program came out of 2021 Senior Champs with a combined score of 3rd in the North division placing two 1&2 finishes in the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays. Over the past five years, Huley's swimmers have contributed to four FHSAA state titles and three runner-ups in 3A and 4A. Swimmers in Loggerhead's class of 2021 are continuing their swimming collegiately at Florida State (3), Tampa, Indian River, Naval Academy (2), Thomas, Rollins, Georgia Tech, and Florida Institute of Technology.

Coach Hulvey began his coaching career as a high school swim/dive and water polo coach while teaching at Coral Gables High School in Miami right after graduating from the University of Florida. After time at Spartan Aquatic Club as a head coach and the University of North Florida as a volunteer assistant coach, Coach John was head coach and owner of Storm Swim Club for four years in which he produced two National qualifiers, three Junior National qualifiers, eleven Futures qualifiers, two individual FHSAA champions, and three Florida LSC recordholders. Storm placed graduating seniors into schools to swim including; LSU, FSU, West Florida, Tampa, Washington University, Chicago, FIT, and Indian River.

Coach Hulvey has served on numerous Florida Zone Team staffs, Florida All-Stars staffs, and has held various positions within the Florida LSC.

Coach John's primary groups are Pre-Senior, Senior State, and Senior National, while also working with all Gator coaches to promote a fun and competitive atmosphere in all of our training groups! As a Gainesville native, he is excited to bring his energy and experience to GSC.

Sarah Grimm

Sarah grew up swimming competitively in Jacksonville, and was coached by John when she was younger! Before she moved to Gainesville to attend UF, Sarah swam for Planet Swim Aquatics, where she competed at the State, Sectional, and Futures championship levels. As a high-school swimmer, Sarah was an FHSAA top-6 finisher in the 100 backstroke, a two-time state champion in the 200 medley relay, and a two-time runner-up in the 200 free relay. Sarah is in her junior year at UF, and plans to go to veterinary school after she graduates. In her free time, she enjoys running and riding horses!
