Junior High Swim Clubs

An Introduction to High School Swimming

What is Junior High Swim Club?

  • Junior High Swim Club is a soft introduction to High School Swimming for students in 6th, 7th and 8th grade.  We follow a similar event lineup throughout the season and teach athletes the expectations of being on the high school teams. Students get the opportunity to bond with teammates who will possibly be on their high school teams as well as meet upperclassmen on the team who volunteer during practices.  It is the perfect opportunity for students to ask questions and prepare for future seasons of swimming in high school.

  • Junior High Swim Club is NOT a UIL athletic sport in Tomball ISD.  Athletes are not recognized by the school during athletic functions and do not receive an athletic class credit for participation in the program.  The program is sponsored by Tomball Area Swim Club and is not associated with the TISD Athletic Program.

Who Can Join?

  • Open to students in 6th, 7th and 8th grade

  • Swimmers entering the program should have a working knowledge of both freestyle and backstroke and should be able to swim 25 yards safely unassisted.  JH Swim Club is NOT Swim Lessons.  It is a competitive team focused on preparing students for high school swimming.  For information on swim lessons programs please email the coaches and we can provide information on additional programs that we offer.

Can Year Round USA Swimmers From Other Club Teams Join?

  • YES!  The program is open to all athletes who meet the prerequisites above, even if they participate on a USA swim team.  Participation will not interfere with USA Swimming Registration as all athletes will be registered with the Amateur Athletic Union.

What Team Should My Swimmer Join?

  • Swimmers should join the team that matches the junior high school that they are zoned to attend.
    • Grand Lakes JH = Tiger Swim Club
    • Willow Wood JH = Wildcat Swim Club
    • Creekside Park/Tomball JH = Cougar Swim Club

My Student is Homeschooled.  Can They Join?

  • YES!  Homeschooled students are welcome to join. They must be between the ages of 12-14 and currently in 6th-8th grade.  They should register for the team that their home address zones them to.
