Heat Raises Money for Y on the Fly Program

Each December, in celebration of the new year, swimmers from Heat practice groups 4, 5 HSI, HSII, and National Team swim 50x50s or 100x100s. (For our non-swimmer friends, that equates to a total of 2,500 yards for the 50x50s or a total of 10,000 yards for the 100x100s!) This year, the team decided to make all of those yards swum even more worth it by raising money for some much needed meet equipment (new lap counters) and donate the remaining funds to the Stephens Family YMCA Y on the Fly program.

The practice groups exceeded their fundraising expectations and were able to raise $735 for the Y on the Fly program! Members of the Heat swim team presented the Y on the Fly Program Director Capricia Whittaker with a celebratory check. Capricia shared on the program's Facebook page that "Funds from the donation will go towards the SPLASH program, which focuses on safety around the water and swim lessons!"

Way to go, Heat!
