Dunlap Dolphins Swim Team
"Take care of each other, take care of yourself and the rest will take care of itself"
Help our swimming members to become champions as leaders and people of high character through the sport of swimming.
Improve daily as athletes as swimmers, teammates, leaders, students and citizens.
Our values are CLEAR:
- Character is developed through challenging and engaging training
- We will transfer our daily training and technique to fast swimming
- We learn from our successes and perhaps even more from our failures.
- Belief in yourself is to learn from and overcome those failures and to meet each challenge.
- Character is doing the right thing even when no one notices.
- Leadership development
- The first level of leadership is learning how to do things right.
- Then, you do things right, with the goal of doing it right all the time.
- Then, you become a consistent example of how to do things right.
- You earn the right to lead by voice by being the consistent example of doing things right.
- Environment of the team is supportive
- We help our teammates, especially when they need our support.
- We accept and value everyone.
- We compete with each other with the goal of helping each other to be better.
- Accountability.
- We will know our times, stroke counts, sets and repeats, and help our teammates.
- True improvement is becoming faster through progressing technique, speed, power and stamina work.
- Those who are not finding their desired improvement should look at their habits, and be accountable to what they need to do.
- Racing
- We are a competitive swim team, learning the skills of racing and sportsmanship.
- Racing is our vehicle to improvement. We encourage racing in practice and in meets.
- The goal is to win, and ultimately that win is to believe in yourself and your ability to reach higher levels of achievement.
Although goals should be measurable and specific, our goals center on making the athlete a better person and our team be a valuable youth sports experience. So, although "unmeasureable" we believe the following are worthy to strive for.
To be caring and helpful athletes for our team, each other and ourselves.
To develop student-athletes for a life of success beyond athletics.
To compete at a level higher than the expectations of a smaller team.
To be fiscally responsible.
To ensure an effective collaboration with District 323 and the community.
