MEET OUR COACHES

Head Coach:

Drew Hill  (Blue Group)

Coach Drew swam competitively for 12 years, and has been with WVST since 2022. A Vincennes native, Coach Drew started his swimming career at age 6. Swimming for VINY, VST, CSM, finishing with LHS, where he was a IHSAA State Finalist in the 50 yard freestyle and holds a Sectional Record. He and his wife Whitney have three children; Griffin, Harper, and Hazel. His favorite hobbies include reading, camping, and walking their 3 Weimaraners. Coach Drew is an Army Veteran, serving 8 years as a Signal Officer. Presently, he works as a Program Analyst for the Department of Labor, Pinnacle Leadership Team Member, and serves as a board member for Knox Country Parks and Recreations Department.

Matt Powell (Blue/White Group) 

Coach Matt has been coaching swimming for 23 years. He has been the head coach of the Olney Tigersharks summer swim team for 22 years. He has served as an assistant swim coach with Sullivan Blue Dolphins, VST, Jasper Aquatic Wildcats, Heartland Hurricanes and now back with WVST. He grew up swimming for the Sullivan Blue Dolphins and then Decatur Swim Club before swimming at Eastern Illinois University serving as Captain his Senior year.  He and his wife Michelle have three children, Owen, Carolyn and Ben. Owen and Carolyn are currently attending the Univeristy of Wisconsin-Stevens Point as education majors and are members of the Mens and Womens Swimming and Diving Teams. His son Ben is a member of WVST. He teaches science at Richland County High School, where he serves as head softball coach and an assistant football coach.
