Mission Statement:
Each WVST swimmer is encouraged to progress to the highest level of their ability through their personal commitment, qualified coaches, parental support and community involvements in a safe and supportive environment.
Vision Statement:
WVST is a competitive swim program that is dedicated to:
- Recognizing each individual and value his or her role in the success of the team.
- Promoting the sport of swimming.
- Providing an enjoyable, team-oriented experience.
- Teaching and developing life skills beyond the pool.
- Providing each swimmer the opportunity to succeed at their highest level of ability.
Team Philosophy:
- Teamwork: WVST is a team that is built upon the commitment, support, and participation of the Board, coaches, swimmers, parents/guardians, and the community at large. WVST believes that its success in achieving the team’s goals is dependent upon the cooperation and support of all members and their families.
- Coaching: WVST is committed to providing comprehensive, expert swim/stroke training by an experienced coaching team. In addition to swim training, WVST promotes the balance of school, training, goal setting, healthy lifestyle habits, such as good nutrition and sleep, and social life and friends.
- Swimmer: WVST believes that each swimmer is an individual with different backgrounds, needs, and goals. The team focuses on the development of positive self-esteem and individual goal setting. The team encourages swimmers to represent WVST by participating competitively on a year round basis. WVST believes that all members should model team spirit and sportsmanship.
About Wabash Valley Swim Team:
The Wabash Valley Swim Team (WVST) is a member of USA Swimming, our national governing body, and Indiana Swimming, our Local Swim Committee (LSC). As such, we compete in swim meets sanctioned by USA Swimming, through Indiana Swimming. We are a year-round competitive swim team offering high quality professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities. The goal of our team is to provide every member an opportunity to improve swimming skills and achieve success at his or her level of ability, from novice to national competitor. Vincennes Swim Team (VST) was establish in 2007 and assumed the name of Wabash Valley Swim Team in 2023 as we are composed of athletes from Knox County and other surrounding Indiana and Illinois counties.
All of our coaches, as members of USA Swimming, have access to the most comprehensive training and certification program for youth coaches of any sport in the United States. They provide assurances that the time children spend in swimming will be quality time.
The team is supported by our Executive Board comprised of parents, the head coach and coaching staff. The Board coordinates fundraising and other activities. All parents are encouraged to be involved in team activities and fundraisers. We are constantly growing and training swimmers to maintain a well-rounded competitive swim team.
