On Thursday, December 11, Grace Waller will have her port a cath placed (in the OR) at Rush Hospital in Chicago; and then on Friday morning, she will begin her chemo treatments. Grace will be receiving chemo treatments for somewhere between 29 – 40 weeks. After 10 weeks, the doctors will know if the tumor is responding or not. At the Badger Aquatic Club USS Meet in Madison, DCST once again had a small (33 swimmers) but talented group. DCST finished third overall behind Badger Aquatics (186 swimmers) and Verona Aquatic Club (95 swimmers). In fact, size wise DCST was only the 7th biggest team in the 16 team meet. On Monday, DCST swimmer Grace Waller, was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer, in her knee. Grace is a member of our National Team Practice group, and she is 16 years old. On Friday, after a day of tests and body scans, she received the best possible news under the circumstances. Kenosha USS Meet Results With only 34 swimmers attending the Kenosha USS Meet, DCST represented itself extremely well. The team finished fourth overall which is outstanding considering that the three teams which finished ahead of us had 136, 74 and 59 swimmers in the meet respectively.
