Indiana Swimming

Junior 3

The Junior 3 Group is our introductory group in the Middle School Division. It serves as a great starting point for swimmers who may be getting a later start to the competitive team. Most swimmers in this group have yet to achieve any Divisional cuts. These swimmers are working on making the necessary improvements that are vital to their continued progression.

Practices

All of our Junior groups typically practice 6 times per week. Dryland training in the Middle School Division takes place the first 45 minutes of practice on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Swimmers are expected to start practice with a shirt, shorts and shoes on these days.

Although many swimmers in the Middle School Division may participate in multiple sports and activities, swimmers are encouraged to attend all practices offered to maximize both their progression and enjoyment of our team and sport.

Swimmers in the Middle School Division are expected to maintain a 50% practice attendance rate.

Meets

We encourage swimmers in the Middle School Division to gain extensive meet experience. Meets are a great opportunity to improve skills and gain the critical experience it takes to take their swimming to the next level. We recommend swimmers attend as many meets as possible throughout the course of each season. Additionally, swimmers are expected to compete in the highest championship meet for which they qualify.

Training Equipment

Swimmers in the Middle School Division are expected to have the following:

  • Mesh Equipment Bag
  • Water Bottle
  • Kickboard
  • Fins (Long or Short Blade)
  • Snorkel
  • Pull Buoy
  • Paddles

Note that not all of this equipment is guaranteed to be used at every practice, but it can be used at any time so, ensure your swimmer has all the necessary equipment at every practice.
