Indiana Swimming

Pre-Team

The Pre-Team is divided into two groups, based on their grade in school. While all swimmers on the Pre-Team have similar abilities, this allows swimmers to practice with kids of a similar age. Pre-Team swimmers are working on the four competitive strokes, while also being introduced to starts and turns.

Practices

A Pre-Team session lasts 12 weeks and practices are 45 minutes, 3 times per week. Swimmers are expected to attend a minimum of 2 practices per week. That said, swimmers are encouraged to attend all practices offered to maximize both their progression and enjoyment of our team and sport.

Meets

Swimmers in the Pre-Team group are still developing the skills needed for full competition, so participation in USA Swimming meets is limited. Parents should talk with the coaching staff before registering for any meet. Participation in team-hosted meets is strongly encouraged.

Training Equipment

Aside from the essentials (swimsuit and goggles), we don't expect swimmers to come to practice with equipment. Suits should be one-piece for girls and jammers for boys, and goggles should cover the eyes only. We will provide any other equipment needed!
