Lawrence Swim Team Receives 2024 Grant Funding From USA Swimming Foundation

The Lawrence Swim Team was chosen as one of 124 youth programs from the USA Swimming Foundation’s nationwide network of swim lesson providers to receive grant money in 2024. The grant award will go toward the organization’s Learn to Swim Program in an effort to provide free or reduced-cost swim lessons to students in the Lawrence and Indianapolis communities. The USA Swimming Foundation has awarded a total of $780,000 in its initial round of 2024 funding to programs across the country.

“We are grateful for the generous support of the USA Swimming Foundation as we continue to expand our Learn to Swim Program,” said Matt Moen, Lawrence Township Aquatics Director. “This grant will have a direct impact on the students of Lawrence Township and will help us provide even more kids with swimming and water safety skills.”

The Lawrence Swim Team, founded in 1977, is a full service club providing aquatic opportunities to the communities of Lawrence and Indianapolis. Each year, nearly 1,000 kids participate in the Learn to Swim Program and competitive swim team. The Learn to Swim Program offers seven comprehensive course levels that teach students how to swim skillfully and safely.

The USA Swimming Foundation vetted more than 400 applications through a competitive review process and chose 124 youth and 38 adult programs to receive funding.

“The USA Swimming Foundation is proud to continue providing Learn-to-Swim opportunities at the local level for both adults and youth,” said USA Swimming Foundation Executive Director Elaine Calip. “With the excitement surrounding U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Swimming and the Olympic Games, we anticipate an increased interest in our sport. We are thrilled to continue our partnership with lesson providers nationwide to keep kids and adults safe in and around the water.”
