#TuesdayTip: Episode 005 - How to Use Your Goals
October 18th, 2022
In today's #TuesdayTip, Coach Chris talks about goal setting, and the importance of setting multiple goals as a way of holding yourself accountable toward achieving them.
Swimmers should learn to differentiate between time goals (uncontrollable) and technical goals (controllable), and should have a plan for how they plan to achieve those goals.
Goals are a training tool, not a measuring stick. Your goals are what get you to practice every day. They're what remind you to work hard, and do the right things, when you get tired. They should not be used as a way to determine the success of your meet or season. Often times, getting better does not necessarily equate with getting faster. BUT, doing the right things day in and day out - focusing on the process - is what ultimately leads to success.
Talk to your coach about your goals and what you plan to do to achieve them.
