The pool is located in the F building on the north side of campus. Swimmers should walk through the gate by the gyms and enter through the main F building entrance.
We will be allowing one (1) parent with each swimmer allowed in the tryout.
The minimum requirements for most swimmers* to be able to join the team are:
- Be water safe in deep water
- Participation in a Learn to Swim Program or previous swim team experience
- Swim freestyle comfortably for one length of the pool without stopping, demonstrating a strong flutter kick and rotary breathing
- Swim backstroke comfortably for one length of the pool, demonstrating a strong flutter kick
- Tread water for 1:00
Other useful skills we may use to determine placement are:
- Demonstrate an ability to swim free and back for longer distances comfortably
- Demonstrate the concept of how to swim breaststroke and butterfly
- Demonstrate an ability to perform a sequential dive from the side of the pool or the blocks
*Older swimmers may be required to demonstrate more skills/abilities.
Swimmers will only be offered a spot on the team if they meet the minimum requirements, and if we have room in the group in which they are placed.
