ABBY LEWTON: US OPEN & WINTER CHAMPIONSHIPS
Abby competed in the Toyota US Open in Greensboro, North Carolina on December 2nd and the Speedo Winter Junior Championships West in August, Texas on December 8th. Abby enjoyed the opportunity and experience of competing against the world’s best, stating:
“My overall experience for the US Open was that it was an experience of a lifetime. I may not have gone the time I was hoping for but that's ok. You're not always going to drop. Some take aways from this meet was not only getting to compete against, but also to watch some Olympians and all the amazing swimmer’s swim. Watching these swimmers with their stroke technique and underwater were the biggest takeaways. I have learned so much from this experience that I know what's going to happen now and know what it will be like next year."
Katie Ledecky, a 10x Olympic Gold Medalist, was in the pool and competing at the US Open. She competed in an event before Abby’s 100 Back and at one point was sharing a lane with Abby for their cool down and warmups. Katie once stated:
“I don’t really compare myself to others. For me, it’s about not being afraid to set scary goals - GOALS that most people never even dream of - And then going out and chasing them.”
Keep attacking your goals, Abby! Your personal best is yet to come!
Congratulations, Abby Lewton for qualifying and competing at the US Open and Winter Junior Championships!
GO STORM!!
