     Billy Cloutet

     Junior & Senior Coach

Billy is a Junior and Senior group coach for the Shreveport BAC satellite location.  Prior to coaching for BAC,  Billy had several different aquatic related roles across the state.  Locally he served as an assistant coach for COSST during their final year of operation and then became a coach for the YMCA after the merger from 2019 to 2023.   Before arriving in Shreveport, Billy had 3 coaching roles in Monroe as an assistant coach for Indian Aquatic Club, Monroe Special Olympics, and as a student coach for ULM.  Billy enjoys sharing his enthusiasm for the sport and being a part of building interest and stability within programs.   He has been the head coach for Terri’s Swim Academy summer league swim team since 2016 which started off as a team of only 16 swimmers.  Since then, the program has grown to a full squad.  As a high school student Billy had to start his own team and was the only swimmer on the team as a freshman but the team continued to grow and has been in place since then.  During the summers while in high school and his first couple of years of college, Billy was entrusted with taking over as head coach of the Lakeside Gators in Slidell, La.  During this time period, the team grew from 30 swimmers to over 120 swimmers.

His swimming experience included swimming at the summer league, USA Swimming year round, and collegiate levels.  Billy and his siblings- Chris (swam for LSU) and Cassie (swam for Centenary) started swimming together as a family competitively at their neighborhood pool for the Lakeside Gators at an early age with water safety as the primary goal.  This grew into the love for a life-long sport and skill.  Billy and his siblings swam year-round for Hurricane Swim Club in Slidell.  During his USA swimming career, Billy won events at the state level, set several team records, and achieved several nationally ranked times as an age-group swimmer including a #1 national ranking as a relay team member.  In college Billy was a 4-year letterman as a swimmer for ULM and developed a 6-dive list on the side and was able to compete as a diver in 3 of his college meets.

Outside of swimming, Billy teaches middle school Robotics and is an elementary STEM and Discoveries teacher.  Billy and his wife Jennifer met in college after she volunteered as a timer for his lane during a swim meet in Monroe.  Billy and Jennifer have 2 kids- Drew who swims for BAC and his younger brother Michael.
