Welcome to BLUE Swim Academy

At BLUE we're committed to helping teach children to learn to be safe in the water as well as enjoy the sport of swimming. Our lesson levels start with the basics of learning to float & to be comfortable in the water and go all the way up to PreTeam to get ready for USA Swimming.

What is different about swim lessons at BLUE?

At BLUE our class sizes are 2:1 for all half hour classes and 4:1 for our PreTeam classes. This ensures that the swimmers can have more time in the water practicing their skills instead of waiting at the wall for their turn. This helps the swimmers to learn their skills faster as the more practice they have in the water will help build their muscle memory.

The small class sizes are important for also making sure our beginner swimmers can remain safe! This makes it easier for the instructors (all lifeguard/first aid/cpr/aed certified) to be able to keep their eyes on the children.

Our swim lesson program was designed by our head swim coach and lessons director to prepare swimmers for an easy transition from lessons to USA swimming and having fun doing it. Our lessons are taught out of local school pools so students have access to a competition pool that is 25 yards and get used to depth up to 12.5-13 feet depending on the location.

What is the benefit of using local schools' pools?

Using the pool space at the local schools helps our students to get used to the pools that they will hopefully one day compete in when in high school. Majority of our instructors swim for their high school team or local club team and they are excited to be able to teach the next generation of swimmers in the Lehigh Valley. Our goal is to be able to expand our swim lesson program to more schools in Lehigh Valley/NJ area to have more swimmers to feed into their high school teams as well as be able to give back to the school's teams and the communities they are in.

Depending on the lesson location, we are able to run our lesson program continuously for 9-11 months out of the year Sept-May/July with some lessons in August at an outdoor pool location.

What is the first step to enter BLUE Swim Academy?

The first step to join our Swim Academy is to sign up for an evaluation at one of our lesson sites HERE.

*The youngest age we accept in our program during the school year is 4 years old and they must have an evaluation so we can see if they are ready for our lesson program. During the summer, we offer lessons for younger preschool age kids.

*All swimmers must be willing to go with the instructor and stay in the pool during their lesson. They can not run out of the water back and forth from their parent to the pool as it is unsafe on the wet pool deck. All swimmers must be potty trained and willing to participate in the lesson and listen to the instructors.  All instructors are trained but having a child who will not listen to the classroom instructions or keeps leaving the water puts the instructor in a predictament where their focus is on the safety of that child instead of instructing the class.

*We do not allow swim diapers into the pool due to if there is an accident, we must cancel all programming for 48 hours to clean and sanitize which also affects the schools use of their own pool.

If your swimmer is:

  • uncomfortable in water
  • can not blow nose bubbles
  • can not submerge under water
  • unable to float on their front/back unassisted

Then you can skip the evaluation and register for Intro to Water Skills age 5-16. For all students who are able to do the above skills, we need an evaluation to ensure your swimmer is in the right class for their skill level. If your child is Intro to Water Skills level, but is nervous/scared about starting; I suggest signing up for an evaluation anyway just for the child to get to see the pool, and go over how we use the equipment to make them more comfortable for their first class.

*If you register for a class without an evaluation there are no refunds or credits if it is not the right level, but we will help you find the right level class for your swimmer that is available. If there is not an opening for your swimmers level, the remaining balance of tuition paid will be placed as a credit on your account for when we do have an opening.

I did my evaluation and have my swimmers level, now what?

Next, is to get your swimmer registered in our lessons program! We currently are running lessons in the summer at:

  • Nazareth Middle School 94 Friedenstahl Ave Nazareth, PA 18064. Summer Schedule Mon-Thurs June 10th-Aug 1st 9:15am-2:45pm
  • Nazareth Borough Pool 475 N Broad St Nazareth, PA 18064. Summer Schedule Mon-Thurs June 24th-Aug 1st 9:15am-10:45am (once a week lessons offered, limited availability due to staffing)

What is the cost for your lessons program?

Our monthly tuition is $100/month for school age and preschool lessons and $105/month for PreTeam lessons. Private lessons are $200/month. Our yearly registration fee is $20/swimmer and is evaluated every August. Monthly tuition covers a minimum of 4 lessons in a month. In months where we will have less than 4 lessons in a month due to school closures, holidays, swim meets utilizing the pool etc., tuition will be prorated to reflect the lessons held in that month. Tuition is charged to your account upon registration and then automatically charges on the first of the month to the card on file on your account.

Sibling/family discounts are available as follows:

  • 2 members enrolled-10%
  • 3 members enrolled-15%
  • 4 members enrolled-20%
  • 5+ members enrolled-25%

To stop enrollment, email Coach Nicole Danchak at [email protected] before the 1st of the month.

To inquire about scholarships for lessons, email Lisa Palochik at [email protected]

Do you offer adapted lessons?

YES! As long as your child does not need swim diapers to be in the water, we can offer adapted lessons for the same price as group lessons to work on their goals from either being safe in the water to working on competitive swimming for Special Olympics.

These lessons are 1:1 to help the child make progress faster. For children with senory issues with noises, we highly recommend scheduling the lessons on Saturdays at the Nazareth location. The whole pool is used for lessons that day and it is a much calmer atmosphere than during the week when we have swim and dive team utilizing the pool at the same time as lessons.

To schedule, reach out to Coach Nicole at [email protected] to discuss the needs of your swimmer and get registered in an opening.

Make Up Policy

If we have to cancel lessons for any reason, we will give the option of a make up class or a credit to your account, if you are not able to schedule the make up class.

If you have to miss your scheduled class for any reason, we will work with you to schedule 1 make up each month but will not be providing credits to your account if you are unable to schedule a make up class. Make up classes must be used while enrolled in swim lessons and expire once enrollment is over.
