USA Swim Team

BLUE runs a USA Swim Team year-round for athletes aged approximately 5 years old to college students. BLUE is committed to the principle that it is equally important to nurture and develop an athlete in a healthy and positive environment as it is to plan and train them to meet and exceed their individual goals in the pool.

BLUE has the following training groups: Prep, 8 & under, 9-10 yo, 11-12 yo, 13-14 yo, SENIOR. Within each grouping, swimmers are sorted by ability and in turn, their training planned accordingly.

Prep - For swimmers who are not quite ready for submersion in the larger age bracket training group but have the desire to join that group as soon as possible. This group is for swimmers 9 & over. As soon as a Prep Team swimmer is ready, the coaches will move them over to their appropriate age group.

8 & under - Introduce swimmers to the sport of competitive swimming with a focus on learning proper competitive stroke techniques. These swimmers focus mainly on Freestyle and Backstroke first, introducing Breaststroke and Butterfly when ready.

9-10 - Continue to develop proper competitive stroke techniques. Introduction of additional skills and set designs appropriate to their age and ability, as well as dryland for those who are ready.

11-12 - Provide a more concentrated practice focusing on proper competitive stroke technique of all four strokes; must be legal in all four strokes. Introduction of more detailed practice sets along with physical and mental challenges appropriate to their age and ability.

13-14 - Continue building on the technical aspects learned in previous age groups with more advanced skills and drills. Technical endurance will continue to be fostered through more advanced practice sets that continue to offer additional physical and mental challenges. First introduction to advanced race modeling.

SENIOR - Swimmers continue building their technical and race skills through their high school years. Group design is set to make well rounded athletes with a full complement of events. Each swimmer can work with coaches to meet their goals for high school, club, and beyond.
