Lap Swimming Guidelines:

  • Obey the lifeguards at all times. 
  • Unsafe behavior, as determined by the lifeguards, is prohibited. 
  • All members under the age of 18 must have a swim band on and visible. 
  • Swim Bands should be obtained at the Front Desk before entering the pool. Lifeguards will not give out swim bands except when first tested. If you do not have a band the lifeguard will issue a RED Band until tested. 
  • If the swimmer has a green swim band, and are actively swimming laps, they are permitted to participate in lap swim. 
  • If a swimmer is 12 years of age and younger, with a green band, they must have a parent or legal guardian on the pool deck at all times. 
  • Only 2 swimmers are permitted in a lane and must start/stop at opposite ends of the pool. 
  • No waiting for a lane on the pool deck.  Parents of those swimmers under the age of 12 are permitted on deck but must social distance. 
  • Only YMCA staff may teach swim lessons. Pool may not be used for non-YMCA sanctioned lessons.
  • Coaching is not permitted from the pool deck.
  • Extended underwater breath-holding is prohibited.
