LBA depends on its volunteers to support a quality aquatics program for all our members. The time, talent and energy that each family contributes help LBA offset the costs to provide the best team experience. On an average year, LBA families commit to serving over 1,800 volunteer hours. LBA's Volunteer Policy is to distribute the huge workload among all LBA families. The billing for unfulfilled hours is not intended as a fundraiser.

ALL FAMILIES ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE VOLUNTEER HOURS

Your family’s hours are based off on your most senior swimmer.

Minimum Hours Required Per Membership Year Per Group:

Senior Group  - 20hours
Age Group II   - 20hours
Age Group I    -  20hours
Smurf II           -  18hours
Smurf I            -  18hours

It is your responsibility to seek volunteer opportunities.

There are several types of volunteering we ask of families throughout the season.

1. LBA Team Volunteering: Each season families are expected to participate in team specific volunteering that supports the team. These hours are achieved by job sign-ups that are sent out for our hosted meets, along with other meets that have job requirements. Examples of supporting the team are: lane timing, meet announcing, computer operator, officiating, concessions, safety marshalling, awards, etc.

2. LBA Obligations at Other Meets: The George Mason meet (December), and the Maryland Swimming Championship meets (February / March / August) require LBA to fill timer and other volunteer positions. Taking on one of these slots will also help satisfy the volunteer hour commitment.   More recently, other teams have been requiring LBA to provide timers for additional meets.

3. LBA Official: The ability to host meets depends upon LBA having sufficient USA Swimming Certified Officials. Volunteer hours commitments can be fulfilled with the time incurred to become a USA Official and through the time spent officiating meets.

"NO SHOW" Information: If a family has signed up for a volunteer opportunity and does not complete that opportunity, for whatever reason, they will need to complete the hours they missed. The volunteer coordinator will work with the family to determine how they would like to handle the "no show".

Uncompleted worker hours will be invoiced to your families account at a rate of $25.00 per hour not fulfilled. This will be billed no later than August 31st. You can check your uncompleted volunteer hour required at any time in Team Unify under the Invoices and Payments tab (Service Hours).
