AG2 Weekly Update Week of 12/15-12/221
Good evening!
That is a wrap on our two champs meets this fall! I am excited to get back to work over the next few weeks in the lead up to the IMX meet. The swimmers did an excellent job applying some of the skills we have worked on in practice in their races but there is still more work to be done. We already have an awesome group of kids headed to States and i am confident that we will be adding to that group over the next few months.
I have already started working on IMX entries and I plan for each kid, depending on availability, to have a solid group of events. I am primarily targeting events that are no time or events they typically do not swim. My plan is for every 12&U to race the 1000 and every 13&O to race the 1650. There are a few small exceptions based on availabiity but I do think it is important that the kids swim in events that make them uncomfortable. We talk in practice a lot about doing the simple things well and some of these longer events are excellent opportunities to try and do the simple things well over a longer race. There is also a tremendous amount of personal growth that can sprout when doing something that makes us uncomfortable. I am happy to have conversations or answer questions about this but I am very set on every kid in the group that is in attendance racing the 1000/1650.
With that, I am also happy to say that we are finally back to a normal practice schedule! I am excited for the next few weeks of practice to really challenge the kids to raise the standards they have for themselves so we can continue to strive towards their goals.
