Off Season update
Swimmers and families,
First and foremost, I hope you all are doing well,... staying healthy and finding ways to cope with this far-from-normal situation.
Our High Tides awards banquet and annual meeting that was originally scheduled for this Thursday (March 26th) has been postponed until further notice. We originally had a few fundraising opportunities coming up this spring that are being put off for the time being also. (mum sale, swim-a-thon). Registration for spring/summer season was supposed to begin March 26th as well, but is being pushed back indefinitely --until we know when our season will start and what hours we will be allowed to practice. I encourage al l of you to register as "not in the water" members so that you can keep up with changes and announcements that happen on or through the website.
During this time away from school and away from the pool, there are a number of things our swimmers can do to keep physically fit, and mentally focused (in the game). Jessi and I are planning a 'body weight only' dry-land program for the spring that all of our swimmers will be able to do daily at home. I will send more out about that soon, when we have it finalized. Fitter and Faster is offering a series of Webinars for swimmers and parents that I encourage you all you consider. The next one is coming up soon,...
Dealing with Adversity – March 24: 2:00pm EST
For Swimmers Ages 12 + and Coaches
- Focus on what you can control
- Maintain a positive attitude
- Remain focused on your goals
I will be looking for more opportunities to keep swimmers engaged, and in-tune with their health and fitness outside of the pool. Keep an eye on your email, and on our website for ideas and links.
And, remember to practice your social distancing! Swimmers do this every day in practice (you are pros at this!)-- 6 feet apart on land is the same as 5 seconds apart in your lane! Be leaders and be good examples of doing your part to make the team (and the world) successful.
Have a great weekend!
