The Condors Learn-to-Swim program mission is to develop comfortable and confident swimmers.
Our small group environment makes learning to swim safe, easy, and fun. The Condors curriculum builds on critical skills that progress to whole stroke development with proper technique and propulsion. The Condors pride themselves on quality coaching and a love for all levels of swimming. The best part of our program is that our Learn-to-Swim classes take place next to our competitive program. You can literally see the potential and possibilities all throughout our pool!

Pre-Team & Competitive Team:
If your swimmer surpasses our lesson requirements and is ready for more swimming on either our Pre-Team or competitive team, you must schedule a Competitive Team Evaluation by going to our team’s Join Rockland page. Swimmers should be able to swim 15 meters of the 4 competitive strokes with proper form.
Learn-to-Swim Program
Beginner 1: Swimmers who are new to the sport of swimming or are building comfort getting into the water start here. If your swimmer is not comfortable performing 10 continuous bobs (submerging under the water while blowing bubbles then coming up to the surface and breathing into the lungs) this is the best class to start with.
Beginner 2: If your swimmer is comfortable diving for rings, breathes into the lungs (no puffy cheeks), and is starting to learn to float on their back and/or stomach, this class is where they will refine those skills and become comfortable doing all the above and more.
Intermediate 1: When your swimmer is comfortable floating, gliding and kicking at the surface of the water and is ready to start learning formal strokes, this is when your swimmer will learn the foundations of freestyle swimming.
Intermediate 2: After being able to safely and efficiently swim freestyle for a minimum of 10-yards they are ready to move to this class to learn backstroke skills. Floating comfortably on their back is an essential skill requirement for this class.
Advanced: This class is for swimmers who are comfortable swimming both freestyle and backstroke for a minimum of 10-yards in both strokes. This class will teach the advanced skills required for butterfly and breaststroke swimming. This class will also prepare your swimmer to graduate to our Future Stars team or the Pre-Competitive Program.
Pre-Competitive
The Condors are proud to offer our Pre-Competitive program as an entry level to foster technical development, increase proficiency and learn basic swimming etiquette in a team atmosphere. We call this our Pre-Team group, primarily for swimmers aged 9 and over.
The purpose of these programs is to:
- Help swimmers transition from the lessons program to the competitive team.
- Give new swimmers with a strong comfort in the water (usually from camp or recreation backgrounds) a starting point to develop foundational skills and improve stroke mechanics.
- Provide a flexible monthly option for developing swimmers who are looking for less commitment but enjoy swimming for fitness and exercise.
Pre-Team: The goal of this group is to develop stroke fundamentals in the four competitive strokes while building endurance with full-length swimming in a team environment. Pre-Team is offered once a week in a 30 or 60 minute class where swimmers can continue their development in the sport of swimming. Whether your swimmer is looking to continue on the path to our competitive team or is simply looking for an opportunity to stay active and have fun in the sport, Pre-Team is a great option for growth in either direction. We recommend that swimmers graduating from our lessons program follow this progression to develop in the sport of swimming.
We understand that there is no one correct path through the sport of swimming. We hope these two great options help your swimmer improve and grow in this phase of their swimming journey.
