I've been a competitive swimmer since the age of 12-17. I was a swimmer at the Yonkers YMCA , which I also where I started teaching swim lessons, lifeguard classes, and coaching. I began coaching my last year of swimming in 2008 for the Yonkers ymca. I stepped away from coaching till 2017 where I came back to coach at the YMCA. After a year of coaching the Yonkers team I joined Condors in 2018. Shortly after returning to coaching, I was reminded that the reason I coach is for the children. I am happy to say that coach was correct; ever since returning to the sport the children brought a deep passion for the sport of swimming out of me, and they inspire me to be a better coach. My hope is when my work at Condors is done I don’t just develop great swimmers but great men and women.

Coach Shanequa began her swimming career at a YMCA, like many of our coaches at Mark Twain. She then, later, swam at Asphalt Green. Following her love of swimming of the next two decades, Shanequa began to pursue coaching. In that time, she has had numerous successful students and athletes. Shanequa has been a lead coach at AGUA and 92 St. Y, as well as the Head Swim Coach at the Nightingale Bamford School. Off the pool deck, throughout the years, Coach Shanequa has accomplished racing a few Triathlons, many marathons and open water swims.
