Closing the Season!
Dear Members,
Beginning this month (August 2022) we will begin sharing with our members a monthly newsletter with updates about our swimmers performances, training tips, milestones and FYI’s from our coaches and staff as well as any other news and updates for our families.
A Successful Close to the Season!
Freedom Aquatics Swimmers successfully finished the season by attending various Championship Meets. Starting with Eastern Zone Open Water Championship at the end of June and continuing with Metro Senior Mets Championship in the middle of July at Nassau Aquatic Center, Junior Olympics Championships, Futures Championships in Geneva, OH at the end of July, ISCA Summer Senior Blast at North Shore Aquatic Center, at the end of July in St. Petersburg, FL and finishing the season with two of our swimmers attending the Eastern Zones Championship Meet in the beginning of August in Ithaca, NY. Additionally, nearly 30 swimmers closed out the season by attending the ISCA Summer Elite ShowCase from 3rd to 6th August at North Shore Aquatic Complex, in St. Petersburg, Florida.

The great results listed above were achieved through the hard work of our swimmers under the tutelage, guidance and mentorship of our experienced coaching staff and constant encouragement and support of our parents and guardians. These achievements would not be possible without this TEAM WORK.
Location and Coaching Announcement Updates
As we look forward to the start of the upcoming season, Coach Nikolay would like to congratulate all swimmers on their accomplishments and extend his deepest appreciation to the coaching staff for their hard work and dedication.
Our team is continuing to grow with us receiving almost daily tryout requests. It is our goal to provide swimmers with the ability to grow and develop and to meet and exceed their expectations. in order for us to continue to achieve this goal while providing the best training, consistency and environment, we are happy to announce the following changes:
Beginning in the 2022 - 2023 season our Brooklyn Sports Club and Poly Prep locations will each have their own Head Location Coaches.
Coach Merouane will continue to train our swimmers and serve as the Head Location Coach at our BSC location. Since joining our staff, Coach Merouane has continued to be an incredibly knowledgeable, successful and dedicated individual and we look forward to his continued success. His “full-time” assignment to BSC will allow him to stay fully focused on one location and will allow him to continue to provide the utmost dedication to the swimmers at this location.
At our Poly Prep location, we are very excited to announce that Coach Elizabeth has been promoted to Head Location Coach. Coach “Liz” joined our team in November of 2020 and has served as an Assistant Coach at our RBYMCA location. During her time with Freedom, she has proved to be one of the most experienced, dedicated and competent coaches throughout Metro Swimming.
Coach Liz has over seven years of experience as a USA swimming age group coach and is ASCA level one certified for stroke technique and instruction. She has trained under the well respected and extremely successful Coach Carle Fierro of Westchester Aquatics. Liz has coached swimmers of various levels and abilities and has helped her swimmers achieve success. Apart from her most recent coaching experience, Coach Liz was also a competitive swimmer throughout her childhood and had a successful academic and athletic career at NYU. Coach Liz has chosen Freedom Aquatics to be her new coaching home as well as a new team for her 2 daughters. Since joining Freedom, she has served as Coach Nikoay’s assistant coach, learning and working alongside him and running his practices whenever needed. Additionally, during her time with Freedom, she has developed a very strong and successful program for new swimmers at our SIYMCA location with many of her swimmers graduating from our swim school to our competitive swim team. In addition to swim coaching, Coach Liz also works daily in the field of children's education.
We are also happy to announce that we have hired a new Assistant Coach to serve on Coach Liz’s staff at our Poly Prep location. Coach Mariah Jenkins was a competitive swimmer from the age of seven through her collegiate career where she was a breaststroke specialist. She has experience coaching swimmers of all ages and all experience levels. While in college, Coach Mariah received her Master’s degree in Applied Sociology. In addition to coaching, she currently works as a remote Care Coordinator for a telemedicine company. Coach Mariah looks forward to joining the Freedom staff and feels her experience and passion for swimming will provide swimmers with a fun, energetic and successful environment.

Swim Team Registration: For the 2022-2023 season we introduced a new, more efficient and user-friendly registration process. We hope everyone was pleased with these changes. If you encountered any difficulties please let us know so that we can make additional changes to continue to improve on this process.
Training Schedule updates: We are happy to announce that in addition to our NJ and BSC locations, our Poly Prep location will be up and running in September. The Poly Prep location will be available for the following groups - Junior, Select, Select Performance and Elite Performance. Practices will be held there Monday thru Thursday with a weekly practice at BSC on Saturdays. As mentioned above, Coach “Liz” has been assigned as the Head Coach at this location.
Please note: YOUR ASSIGNED LOCATION IS YOUR ASSIGNED LOCATION! You may not pick and choose practices between locations and you must attend the scheduled practice for your group at your assigned location.

Swim Meets: Swim Meet Calendar has been updated with all major season events and meets. We strongly recommend swimmers to attend at least one meet a month. In order to avoid any misunderstandings with the meet registration process, please read carefully our article about the Meet Registration process HERE.
An Exciting Program Is Making a Comeback!
We are excited to re-introduce our referral program that will be in place for the 2022-2023 season. Beginning with the 2022-2023 season we will be rewarding our existing clients with a $30 account credit for any Swim School and up to a $100 credit for Swim Team for any referral that ultimately registers for either our Learn to Swim or Swim Team programs. Upon the new swimmers registration, the credit will be applied to your account to be used for any Freedom Aquatics program, for any swimmer listed on your account. *Please note:This credit may not be used for USA Swimming registration, Annual team registration fee or meet fees.
In order to refer a friend or family member to Freedom Aquatics, please have your referral complete our TRYOUT form HERE and be sure they indicate your name in the referral source section.
