SAFE SPORT INFORMATION
USA Swimming is committed to providing a healthy and positive environment free from abuse for all its members. USA Swimming’s Safe Sport program, a comprehensive abuse prevention program, consists of a multi-layered approach to keep kids safe, including: required policies and best practice guidelines; mandatory screening, including criminal background checks and employment screening; training and education; monitoring, supervision and mandatory reporting. These measures are informed by experts in the field of child safety and are among the strongest safeguards found in youth-serving organizations.
USA Swimming’s top priority continues to be creating healthy and positive environments free from abuse for all its members. As part of its commitment to safeguard athletes, USA Swimming has released an updated Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy (MAAPP) applicable to all USA Swimming Adult Participants, Zones, Local Swimming Committees (LSCs) and member clubs. Therefore, to support and promote a healthy environment within Freedom Aquatics Swim Team, as of September 1, 2021 we are implementing a new USA Swimming’s updated MAAPP document within the club.

Athlete Protection Training
All adult athletes (age 18+) and all non-athlete members of USA Swimming must complete the required Athete ProtectionTraining. This certification is required for all new and existing members including coaches, officials, chaperones, meet directors, board memebrs and adult athletes. Successful completion the training, on an annual basis, is now a membership requirement of adult athletes, and failure to complete it will result in an athlete’s inability to swim in a meet or at practice. This is the same membership requirement for all non-athlete members.
