NDAC's dedicated Coaches are committed to providing a high-quality competitive swimming experience which allows ALL of our athletes to develop to their maximum potential and ability.

NDAC Coaches have decades of combined experience training young swimmers while instilling the values of hard work, self-discipline, dedication, sportsmanship and team pride.

As certified USA Swimming Coaches and members of the American Swimming Coaches Association, NDAC Coaches have completed the most comprehensive education, training and certification program for youth coaches of any sport in the United States.

Emanuel Cohen  EMAIL

Coach Emanuel grew up swimming on Long Island, New York. He joined his first team, the Hewlett Swim Club, when he was 6 years old before joining the Long Island Aquatic Club (LIAC) when he was 9 years old. Swimming for LIAC, he competed at meets across the east coast including meets at Yale University and Rutgers College, specializing in backstroke and long distance freestyle events. In addition to swimming year round for his club, Emanuel swam for his middle and high schools, leading his middle school team to an undefeated season as captain and setting several school records in the process.

After his swimming career, Coach Emanuel graduated the University of Rochester with a Bachelor of Arts in Music History and Theory with Highest Distinction before attaining his Master of Music degree in Orchestral Conducting at the Bard College Conservatory of Music. He was a conducting fellow for the 2022 Prague Summer Nights Young Artists Music Festival and continues to perform and pursue his musical career.

Coach Emanuel is currently the Head Lifeguard at the Bard College Pool and was coach of NDAC’s Group 1 in 2022-23 before moving up to Group 2 in fall of 2023.

 

 

 

 


 

Interim Head Coach & Group 4 Coach:

Anthony Porto  EMAIL

Coach Porto began his swimming career at Taconic Hills Highs School where he got his introduction to the sport at 13 years old on his varsity team. Anthony quickly gravitated towards higher level swimming and began his club career as a part of the Snapper Swim Club in Great Barrington Massachusetts. Anthony switched to Northerm Dutchess his senior year of high school and has been a member of the NDAC Family ever since. 

Coach Porto began his college career swimming for SUNY Oneonta during his freshman campaign. After a season-ending injury, he transferred to Ithaca College to study Corportate Finance and Managment as well as compete on the Varsity Men's Swimming and Diving Program. During his sophmore season, Coach Porto helped to coach group 2 while recovering at home from surgery caused by his previous injury. Upon his return to Ithaca College in the spring he began full time coaching of ISwim's Silver and Silver + age groups. Anthony finished his Juinor Campaign as a top 5 scorer for the program and was selected as Captain of the Men's Team his Senior Season. Coach Porto currently holds an ASCA Level 2 Performance Certification.

Anthony now currently works for New York State Parks as the Taconic Region's Water Safety Coordinator and has served as NDAC's Group 4 Coach since 2022.
