Novice Groups:
Novice 1- Novice 1 Swimmers make up some of our youngest and most eager to learn ASC Swimmers! The premise of Novice 1 is learning and legally mastering all four strokes, starts, and turns. Our coaching staff also works to bring a comfort and love for racing in the Novice group, while also increasing the challenges from summer league teams and stroke clinics, using more yardage per session, and the introduction of light-training. Swimmers in Novice 1 are competing in their first year-round swim meets, facing fears, and becoming proficient across all four strokes and IM events in competition. Swimmers in Novice 1 will have the option to swim in about 5 or 6 meets throughout the year. The N1 season will end at some point between Memorial Day Weekend and the end of the AACPS Year. We encourage Novice Swimmers to spend the summer out with their summer league teams, and resting up to come back fresh the following season!
Novice 1 offers 3 practices per week. This group is geared for swimmers between ages 7 and 9.
Group Coaches- Morgan Bower, Margo VanLoon
Novice 2- Novice 2 Swimmers are the newest and most eager to learn swimmers on the team! Novice 2 is extremely “skills based” in nature, and aims to help young swimmers transition from lessons and summer league over to their first or second season on a year-round team. Coaches of Novice 2 will work with athletes to help make all 4 strokes legal, teach and master all turns and racing dives, while also teaching athletes the importance of team spirit, and the love for being competitive. Swimmers in Novice 2 are setting their sights on racing in about 5 or 6 meets throughout the year. The N2 season will end at some point between Memorial Day Weekend and the end of the AACPS Year. We encourage Novice Swimmers to spend the summer out with their summer league teams, and resting up to come back fresh the following season!
Novice 2 offers 2 practices per week. This group is geared for swimmers between ages 6 and 8.
