Why STORM?
More than just a swim team, the South Metro Storm Swim Club (MN-STRM) also has a Master's Swim Team, an accomplished Triathlon (Lake Marion Triathlon) and a Learn to Swim Program (StormChasers). We cover the full spectrum of swimming in the South Metro area and are eager to provide you with an excellent experience from your first swim lesson, to your final college swim meet and beyond.
The STORM is among the largest clubs out of 72 in the state, boasting more than 400 athletes in 2018. With three competitive pools and two warm water pools, we have the room and staff to accommodate all of your needs. Athletes on the STORM swim team have attained State Championship, Zone, Junior and Senior National qualifying times.
Swim team programs are available each season, year-round. Storm has several group levels to provide for optimal swimmer-to-coach ratios. The dedicated coaching staff consists of three full-time coaches and 25 well-qualified part-time coaches and instructors. The StormChasers Learn to Swim program has become a huge success. Nearly all of our instructors are current or former competitive swimmers. They have the ability to provide an excellent experience for those new to the water.
Our club supports the following experiences:
- JR and SR National Meets, assistance provided to these families
- Team Training Trip, each summer locations may vary
- Low Volunteering commitments. 4-5 hours every 3 months
- Private Lessons, Group Lessons
- State of the art underwater camera systems
- Great pool availability and low swimmer to lane / coach ratios
- End of the year banquets and parties
