SWIMMER CODE OF CONDUCT

As representatives of the Naples Military community, swimmers are expected to demonstrate integrity, respect, and sportsmanship at all times.
The following guidelines apply:

  • Respect & Behavior:
    • Follow instructions from all coaches and facility staff.
    • Display respectful, responsible, and sportsmanlike behavior at all times—verbally, physically, electronically, and in writing.
    • Use appropriate language; disrespectful, destructive, or indiscreet conduct will not be tolerated.
    • Inappropriate public displays of affection are not permitted on the pool deck.
  • Substance Use:
    • The possession, use, or presence around alcohol, tobacco, drugs, or any illegal substances is strictly prohibited.
  • Facilities & Equipment:
    • Follow all rules of the MWR gym, Aquatics Center, and transportation services.
    • Theft, damage, or loss of property will result in disciplinary action. Swimmers are responsible for replacing any lost or damaged items.
  • Team Representation:
    • Represent the team positively in behavior, appearance, and attitude—on and off the deck, during travel, and at all team functions and fundraising events.

PARENT/FAMILY CODE OF CONDUCT

Parents are essential to the success of our program and are expected to support a safe, respectful, and team-focused environment. In the cases of hardship for families with a healthy history of volunteerism, and communication prior to the event will allow the Executive Board to collaborate with you on a reasonable solution.

  • Practice Environment:
    • The pool deck is for coaches and swimmers only. Parents may observe from the designated bleacher area.
    • Direct questions or concerns to coaches outside of practice hours or via email.
  • Conduct & Communication:
    • Demonstrate respect, self-control, and good sportsmanship at all times.
    • Refrain from coaching swimmers during practices or meets.
    • Abusive, critical, or disrespectful behavior—verbal, written, or electronic—toward coaches, swimmers, officials, or other parents will not be tolerated.
  • Supervision & Responsibility:
    • Parents are responsible for their children’s behavior before and after practice, including during carpooling or while using transportation services.
    • Siblings or non-swimmers must remain supervised and are not permitted on the pool deck or in restricted areas (e.g., locker rooms, gym, jacuzzi).*Please note you must be at least 15 years old to enter the Jacuzzi per MWR.
  • Meet Protocol:
    • All questions regarding officiating should be directed to the coaching staff—not to officials—after the session or via email.

VOLUNTEER SERVICE COMMITMENT

The Naples Tiger Sharks (NTS) Swim Team relies heavily on family and volunteer participation to run successful practices, meets, and events. By signing this agreement, you acknowledge your understanding of and commitment to the team’s volunteer expectations for the current swim season.

  • Mandatory Participation at Home Meets
    •  Each family must provide a volunteer at every home meet their child participates in. If unavailable, a substitute must be arranged and confirmed in advance with the Volunteer Coordinator. Exceptions may be considered for extenuating circumstances with prior coordination and Board approval.
  • Volunteer Points Requirement
    •  Each family is required to earn a minimum of 40 volunteer points per season, which can be achieved through:
      • Volunteering at home and away meets
      • Serving in key operational roles (timers, officials, setup/teardown, etc.)
      • Organizing or supporting team events
      • Donating food, holding a food handler's card, attending board meetings, or completing training
      • Participating in fundraising efforts (e.g., food sales, bagging events, car washes)
  • Swimmer Fundraising & Community Event Participation
    •  Each swimmer is required to participate in at least one fundraising event and/or community volunteer activity per season. These opportunities help support team operations and foster community engagement.
  • Non-Compliance and Penalties
    • First Violation: Meeting with the NTS Board
    • Second Violation: $10 per missed volunteer hour + Board meeting
    • Third Violation: Dismissal from the team (no refunds)
    • Point Shortfall: $10 per point under 40. Unpaid dues prevent registration or board participation the following season.
  • Opt-Out Option
    •  Families may opt out of volunteering by paying a $400 fee at the start of the season. Even if opting out, families are encouraged to support team spirit through minimal involvement.
  • Communication & Tracking
    •  The Volunteer Coordinator will update points monthly via the swim team platform. Each family is responsible for verifying and ensuring their hours are correctly logged.

Volunteering at away meets
(hosted by other teams) will count towards volunteer requirements and is often welcomed by the host team.
