Codes of Conduct
Swimmer Code of Conduct
As an athlete on the Granite Falls Makos, I agree to the following statements:
- I will respect and show courtesy to my teammates and coaches at all times.
- I will demonstrate good sportsmanship at all practices and meets.
- I will set a good example of behavior and work ethic for my younger teammates.
- I will be respectful of my teammates’ feelings and personal space. Swimmers who exhibit sexist, racist, and any other discriminatory or otherwise inappropriate behavior will be faced with consequences.
- I will show respect for all facilities and other property (including locker rooms) used during practices, competitions, and team activities.
- I will refrain from foul language, violence, behavior deemed dishonest, offensive, or illegal.
- If I disagree with an official’s call, I will talk with my coach and not approach the official directly.
- I will obey all of USA Swimming’s rules and codes of conduct.
I understand that if I violate this code of conduct, I will be subject to disciplinary action determined by my coaches.
Parent Code of Conduct
We ask that as a Makos Swim Club parent you always remember that you are a role model.
As a proud Makos Swim Club parent, I will:
1. Always support my child with positive encouragement.
2. Respect and adhere to ideals, policies, rules determined by USA Swimming and the Makos Swim Club.
3. Always maintain self-control.
4. Respect the facilities, either home or away, in which my child is privileged to swim.
5. Show respect for all decisions, judgment, and authority of all officials/coaches.
6. Show respect for the feelings and accept the capabilities of my child, my child’s teammates, and swimmers on other teams.
7. Exhibit a high degree of sportsmanship, teamwork, and positive attitude always when representing my child, the team, and USA Swimming.
8. Refrain from coaching from the bleachers during practice or meets.
9. Respect the 24hr rule - If I have a problem/conflict with any of the coaches, I will not approach them during or immediately after a meet. AFTER a 24 hour, cooling off/waiting period, I will call/text/email or set a meeting with the coach to discuss the matter.
10. Refrain from expressing my opinion of the coaches or swimmers in front of my own child or in a public setting.
11. Refrain from using foul language towards other parents, coaches, officials, or other swimmers.
12. Refrain from yelling at or threatening coaches, officials, opposing swimmers before, during or after meets or practice.
13. Refrain from using social media to express any negativity toward anyone associated with the Makos Swim club.
14. Refrain from demonstrating frustration or anger after a poor performance.
15. Always accept defeat graciously.
16. Will commit to club and USA Swimming fees in accordance with required schedules.
17. Not physically or verbally abuse any other person.
I understand that if I violate this code of conduct, I will be subject to disciplinary action determined by the coaching staff and the club.
