Carter Page Head Coach/Director of Competitive Swimming
 
Carter Page joined the Makos in the fall of 2022 and took over as Director of Competitive Swimming in March of 2023. He currently coaches the Senior 1, Gray, and Green Teams and assists other coaches as needed. Carter also serves as the Masters Coach at Granite Falls, where he has produced USMS National Qualifiers and Wake County Senior Games Champions. He started his coaching career in summer league and had the opportunity to serve as a coach for a variety of local teams. Prior to joing the Makos, Carter served as an age group coach for New Wave and YOTA. Carter has also served as the head coach of the Franklin Academy High School Swim Team and was named conference coach of the year in 2022. During his coaching career, Carter has worked with beginners to age group championship swimmers to high school state medalists. Carter has been selected by North Carolina Swimming to serve as a coach for Age Group Select Camp, Carolina Crown, Open Water Select Camp, IMX Camp, and the Open Water Zone Team where he served as Head Coach in 2025.

Carter is from the Wake Forest area and then went on to receive his undergraduate degree from Michigan State and his masters in teaching from NC State. Carter loves to watch sports and is avid Carolina Hurricanes and Michigan State Spartans fan.

 
Felix TuenkerHead Coach
 
Felix joined the Makos in August 2023, as Lead Age Group Coach after serving as an assistant coach with the YMCA of the Triangle (YOTA). During his time with YOTA, Felix was responsible for the development of their top age group swimmers and saw swimmers place in the top 5 at North Carolina Swimming Age Group Championships. In August 2024, Felix was named Head Coach of the Makos. Felix's upbeat coaching style has been recognized by North Carolina Swimming. In 2023, Felix served as a coach for Select Camp, Carolina Crown, and the Age Group Zone Team. Felix serves as the lead coach of the Select, Black, and Silver Teams. 
 
 
Robert Horvath Associate Head Coach / National Team Coach
 
Robert was introduced to the world of aquatics at the age of ten when he began swimming competitively for the Makos. Since then, Robert has been with the Makos as either a coach or swimmer. Robert currently leads the National Team and consistenly helped over 20 swimmers a year reach state championship cuts. Coach Robert works to see development across the entire team with a focus on the senior program. Under Robert's guideance, his athletes have achieved great feats this inlcudes podium finishes at NC Age Group Championships and ESSZ Age Group Sectionals. On the senior side, Robert's athletes consistently final at NC Senior Championship and ESSZ Sectionals. In 2025, one Robert's athletes qulaified for finals at the TYR Pro Swim Series.
 
When Robert is not coaching with Makos, you can find him on a pool deck. He is a co-owner in Wake Aquatic Partners, a pool management firm that provides services to HOA communities, swim clubs, hotels, homeowners, and more.

Dee Haire
SLAM Coach
 
Dee joined the Makos in the Spring of 2024, serving as the lead coach for our SLAM Program. In the fall of 2024, Dee also became the lead coach for Longfin. While Dee may be new face to many Makos families, she is no stranger to Granite Falls where has worked for years as swim lessons and camp swim instructor. She also has served as the head summer league coach for the Granite Falls Summer Team and works with Edurance Edge as a coach for adult swimmers and triathletes.
 
 
Grant Kenny
Premier Team Coach
 
Grant has been involved with swimming since age seven. Growing up in Northern Virginia, he swam for Curl Burke (now Nation's Capital Swimming)  and competed in college for the University of Mary Washington. He specialized in distance freestyle but also has experience coaching kids and adults. While in college, he would coach Summer league teams and after graduating, he coached Masters swimming for 5 years. 
 
When not coaching swimming, he is spending time with his wife Mandy, his two golden retrievers, and his 1 year old daughter Finley. 
 

Brandon King Senior 2 Team Coach

Brandon is in his eighth season with the Makos and serves as a Senior 2 Team coach. In his time with Makos, he has already had an NC Select Camp qualifier and helped his entire team see significant time drops. Brandon graduated from UNC Wilmington with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and a Minor in Chemistry, while being EMT certified and having become a Volunteer Firefighter throughout his college career. After graduating, Brandon has become LGIT (Lifeguard Instructor Trainer) certified, CPOI (Certified Pool Operator Instructor), NAUI Scuba certified, and has been very involved in the Rolesville/Wake Forest community.

 
Evan Jones

Lily Merrill
Longfin Team Coach 
 
As one of eight siblings and aunt to four, as well as a frequent babysitter, Coach Lily has spent all of her life around children. Lily has been with the Makos for 10 years and has served as a coach for 5 years, primarily working with Longfin and Shortfin swimmers. Coach Lily has worked with many of our older swimmers, helping to contribute to their success and development as swimmers at the higher level. In her free team, Lily enjoys working out, jiujitsu, and volunteering at the gym.

Liv Miller
White Team Coach
 
Coach Liv has spent a lot of her life on the pool deck. As a swimmer, Liv swam for the Charleston Swim Club from ages 4 to 18 and coached for them  throughout her college years. Liv comes from a swim family with father serving as USA Swimming Official in Illinois. After college, Liv went on to become a teacher and currently works for a local school in the Wake Forest area. Liv and her husband Jordan are parents to three Makos: Walter and Kippy, and Georgie. Now entering her third season as lead coach for the WhiteTeam, Liv has helped lay the foundation for the Makos Group Championship Team with many of her atheletes representing the Makos at high level meets.
 
 
Mary Walcott Lime & Shortfin Team Coach Email: [email protected]
 
Mary is a former Makos swimmer and has been around Granite Falls for over ten years. After finishing as a Makos swimmer, Mary has still been very active around Granite Falls. She has been teaching swim lessons at Granite Falls for a few years and has previously served as an assistant coach for both the Makos and Gators. In addition to coaching for the Makos, Mary is the Head Swim Coach for Thales Academy Rolesville. Mary currently attends Judson College at Southeastern Seminary and is studying Theology.
