Alicia is in her fourth year as Head Coach of the Marlins. She is currently an ASCA Level 2 Swim Coach. 

As a swimmer, she swam for the University of Chicago (D-III) for four years and was captain for two years, receiving Honorable Mention Academic All-American in the 200 Backstroke.

She coached three years for the Ann Arbor Swim Club as a swim lesson instructor, with the Green Bay YMCA as assistant age group coach for four years, and for three years as head coach for Ursuline High School Girls and Duchesne High School Girls. She has done private lessons for swimmers ranging from triathletes, age group swimmers, state and national champions, and specializes in technique and stroke analysis.

Alicia's coaching strengths are helping athletes improve stroke efficiency and power. She loves helping swimmers achieve their goals.  She uses test sets to measure progress and show the swimmers how their hard work is paying off.

Alicia is married to Donnie (Philosophy Professor at the University of Mary) and homeschools their four children: Josie (8), Mara (6), Peter (4), and Andrew (almost 2).

Grace Kuntz, Assistant Coach, Intermediate 2 Group

From: Mandan, ND

Favorite Stroke: Backstroke

Favorite Swimmer: Missy Franklin

Grace has been with the Marlins for 15 years: 9 as a swimmer and 6 as a coach. Grace started caoching in 2018 for the Marlins while finishing her senior year of high school, she started with the 8-10 year olds. 

Her coaching strengths are a technical understanding of all four strokes, and the ability to help swimmers develop stronger, more efficient strokes. She swam a lot of distance events in her swimming career, so enjoys helping swimmers through those events and set times/splits.

Grace graduated in 2022 with her bachelors degree in business administration at Dickinson State University. She currently work full time at Sauber and Associates, doing payroll, bookkeeping, and tax preparation.

Linn Schroeder, Assistant Coach, Sub

Hometown: Mandan, ND

Favorite Stroke: Freestyle

Favorite Swimmer: Katie Ledecky

Growing up, Linn swam for the Mandan Marlins, the Bismarck YMCA Golden Seals, and Mandan High School. After high school, she swam on​ scholarship for distance events for Minnesota State University. She started coaching for the Mankato Marlins during college and began coaching with Mandan High School in 2000. After a four year break from the pool, she returned to the MHS teams in 2019 and currently coaches both the girls and boys teams in addition to coaching for the Marlins! 

Linn's strengths are that she loves helping swimmers reach their goals whether their goal is to fix a stroke or improve times. As a Sports Nutrition Coach, she also enjoys working with athletes to optimize their sports nutrition.

Linn is a Co-Owner of Amplified Athletics in Mandan where the mission is to educate and support athletes of all ages through proper nutrition, training technique and programming in relation to their specific sport or activity. Linn is mom to 3 boys: Grant, 23, Alex, 10, and William, 8.

Brooklyn Leingang, Assistant Coach, Intermediate 1

Brooklyn swam competitively for 7 years with the Mandan Marlins Swim Club, with the Mandan Braves for 5 years, and is in her 3rd year of coaching for the Marlins. 
 
Some of  Brooklyn’s strengths are working with younger kids and being able to start them off on the right track for technique. She enjoys boosting confidence by challenging young swimmers to be the best version of themselves.
 
Brooklyn is currently a Freshman at Bismarck State College during pre-requisites for nursing.

Keely Lacina, Assistant Coach, Developmental 2

Hometown: Shakopee Minnesota

Favorite Stroke: Butterfly 

Favorite Swimmer: Cody Miller 

Keely started swimming in 2015 with Barracuda Aquatics Club in Minnesota and with her high school the Shakopee Sabers from junior high through her senior year. She swam with the University of Mary from 2020-2023. She started coaching 2018 with her home club assisting with beginning developmental groups. She then started teaching swim lessons at Dakota Sports and Fitness in Minnesota.

 
Her biggest strength in coaching comes from being an athlete that came late to the sport. She focuses on a strong foundation in order to build a great athlete. Developing focus and perseverance help to build a healthy and positive mindset that allow athletes to flourish. Being a distance swimmer, she coaches others to understand that the smallest things matter both in and out of the pool to prevent injuries and build success. 

Keely graduated from the University of Mary in the spring of 2023 with a degree in Marketing. She currently works as a full time Nanny and does freelance marketing on the side.

Grace Goettle, Assistant Coach, Developmental 1

This is Grace's 7th year swimming with the Marlins. She started at age ten in 4th grade and this is her first full year coach ing with the Marlins after having coached Mini Marlins. 
 
Her biggest strength is knowing the importance of having a good foundation in swimming technique.
 
She is currently in high school at the School of the Holy Family and swims for both the Marlins and the Mandan Braves team.
