New England Swimming Coach of the Year

Please join us in congratulating coach Ryan Pitcairn on winning the 2024 Jeff Johnson Award as New England’s premier Development coach!
Award winners will be honored at the New England Swimming Banquet on September 22nd.
The Jeff Johnson Age Group Coach of the Year award is presented to a coach who primarily works with age 14 and under swimmers and is responsible for their achievements. The recipient is voted on by his/her peers at the end of the Long Course Season. The Coach Representatives run the election and will announce the winner who will be honored at that Awards Banquet in the fall.
This coach is recognized for their great work and achievements in bettering the athletic abilities, values, and overall character of their athletes and program. This coach has demonstrated growth and development from their athletes, not only in the sport of swimming, but as individuals.
Criteria:
- Displays constant leadership for their athletes, families, New England Swimming, and USA Swimming.
- Develops the athlete personally as well as in the water.
- This coach is recognized as a positive role model by their peers and athletes.
- Dedicates the time and patience in developing the love of the sport for athletes, from any starting point.
- Improves the athletes' technique, skill and overall mindset of the sport of swimming.
- Develops a visible and strong team environment on the pool deck at practices and meets.
- Conducts themselves with the professionalism and demeanor that represents what coaches of New England believe to be an example for the entire LSC.
