Voyager

* Every swimmer is evaluated individually by the Coaching Staff and placed in a group deemed appropriate for their best development.

Age Range:

4th & 5th grade

Entrance Criteria:

Complete all Explorer competition expectations

Has knowledge of and can execute 2-3 drills for each stroke* (refer to drill list)

Knows basic intervals and knowledge of using a pace clock

Can count laps correctly

Understands rules of competition (ie long whistle means get on block)

Can complete a racing start off the block and knows a relay start

Practices:

4-5x per week in competition pool

Practice 

Expectations:

Start and finish on the wall at all times

Understand circle swimming, when to pass, when to lead, etc

Be able to use the pace clock to get times without coaches assistance

Legal turns and flips turns off every wall with dolphin kicks

Read & comprehend a set on the board

Understand their pace time and importance of it

Competition:

Local meets and occasionally a travel meet; goal is to qualify for Silvers, AGs, and Zones

Competition Expectations:

Year 1: complete legal 50s and 100s of each stroke, and 200 FR / IM 

Year 2: complete legal 50s and 100s of each stroke, 200 FR/IM, 500 FR

Exit Criteria:

Complete all competition expectations

All turns and finishes are legal

Has four legal strokes

Uses a pace clock and is independent when getting times

Knows how to find their pace time and uses is to track progress

Swimmers will either move on to Juniors or earn a spot on the CRA rec team.
