BAC spotlighted by USA SWIMMING: Safe Sport Newsletter // September 2025
Berkeley Aquatic Club Spotlight
Berkeley Aquatic Club (BAC) in New Jersey Swimming provided a great incentive for returning families who have completed parent training.
For families who have completed one of the free monthly SSRP Zoom trainings or the Parents' Guide to Misconduct in Sport training on their own, the club is offering a financial discount for the 2025-26 registration year.
"We as a staff have committed to and prioritized creating and maintaining a safe and inclusive environment," said BAC CEO Tristan Formon. " We are now asking families to join us!"
"Program fees went up as they typically do, but we created an opportunity for families to essentially pay the 2024-25 program fee rates for the 2025-26 season," he continued. "They will receive a program fee credit toward meet entry fees, etc."
Here is a copy of what BAC used to communicate to their members:
" Safe Sport Recognized Family Discount ** (NEW for 2025-26) : Berkeley Aquatic Club remains committed to creating and maintaining a safe and inclusive environment for its members to experience the sport of swimming. USA Swimming offers ongoing Parent Safe Sport Training. Families will receive an email reminder in January of 2026 to forward a copy of their current / valid safe sport training certificate of completion (note the certificate is valid for 18 months following completion). In recognition for those families who take Parent Safe Sport Training AND whose accounts are in good standing on January 20th 2026 will receive a $100 account credit for each of their current BAC team athletes. This non-refundable credit may be used toward meet entry fees etc. in 2026. Dates for online USA Swimming Parent training offerings and self-guided course details will be shared this fall. "
The new discount falls along with the club's mission statement: " The mission of the Berkeley Aquatic Club is to develop student-athletes who are a credit to society. The Berkeley experience tends to shape and strengthen character throughout one's lifetime. Although Berkeley Aquatic Club strives to develop champion swimmers, the club measures success not only by national championships and college scholarships, but also by personal improvement, both in and out of the pool. Berkeley Aquatic Club is committed to creating and maintaining a safe and inclusive space for all athletes to experience the sport of swimming."
