Prerequisites:
Online Portion
*Must complete online portion prior to the first day of the course!!! You will be redirected to the Red Cross page with the online portion after signing up for the course.
In-Person Portion
*Swim 150 yards breaststroke AND/OR freestyle with face in water
*Immediately tread water for 2 minutes using only legs & finish swimming 50 yds breaststroke AND/OR freestyle continuously
*Retrieve and swim on back with 10-pound object from depth of 7-12 feet (timed)
WE ALSO HAVE WATERFRONT COURSES (can only sign up for waterfront course after completing a lifeguard course and must be at least 15 years old by the last day of the course) Waterfront Video AND LIFEGUARD INSTRUCTOR COURSES (must be at least 17 yrs old and have at least 2 years of lifeguarding experience)

New Student Lifeguard Course - $355, cash or checks payable to BAC
CPR Masks are included.

Course Dates: November 22nd and 23rd, or December 27th and 28th (changed to December 20th and 21st)
Course Times: Days 1 and 2: 10 am to 9 pm
BERKELEY AQUATIC CLUB LIFEGUARD RE-CERTIFICATION
($10 student discount for each referral joining your class plus $10 discount for Returning BAC Lifeguard Students)
Lifeguard Recert Student - $200, cash or checks payable to BAC

Criteria for course completion and certification for ALL Lifeguard Courses:
To successfully complete the lifeguarding course, you must:
-Complete online portion prior to the first day of your course.
-Attend and participate in all class sessions.
-Demonstrate competency in all required skills and activities.
-Demonstrate competency in all required final rescue skill scenarios.
-Pass the written test with a minimum of 80%.

PLEASE BRING PAYMENT (in form of check paid to BAC or cash) AND ID TO THE FIRST CLASS.
Items to bring: Swimsuit, ID (driver's license, passport, or student photo ID with birth certificate), Goggles, Snacks, Lunch, Warm clothes, Water, 2 to 3 Towels (we'll be in and out of the water often), a Screenshot of completed online portion. If taking the lifeguard recert course, please bring a CPR mask. We have them for $10 each if you need to purchase it.
