Good afternoon to all those with swimmers who are 11 and above.
Below is more information on the 2024 Summer Long Course season at MCY:
The 2024 Long Course season will begin Wednesday, May 1st and goes through early July.
What is "NEW" for MCY Summer Long Course 2024?
- The Summer MCY Long Course team is for 11 & up swimmers only. We believe that 10 & unders should spend quality time on their local summer team and with friends, family and all the other activities that they love so much. (Not actually new, but important to note before signing up.)
- We ask that you have been a part of the 2023 - 2024 MCY Winter Short Course Marlins team. We anticipate a very large number this summer and only have room/time for one practice time for the summer.
- We would like for you to be focused on as many practices as possible. Practices are Monday - Thursday only with no weekend practices ~ as we leave those open for competitions and family, friends and summer fun!!
- We ask that you are goal-oriented in your swimming and want to take things to the next level for next winter and please put as many of the following Long Course meets and LC Championships on your calendar for the summer.
- Are you wanting to train with MCY this summer...too much sun and not enough constructive swim time? Do you have swim goals?
- We have seen great success with those who have swam summer and dedicated themselves to attending practices consistently over the last few summers.
- Does this sound like something you are willing to step up your practice habits and make the commitment to be a part of this team?
- The MCY Long Course team is something you will want to plan for this summer, we are looking to build on the team aspect this summer...we started with great team leadership and look to continue that this summer!!
- Do you have leadership goals?
- We are looking for Leaders of our team.
- Come try them out at MCY!
- The MCY Long Course season runs from the first of May through mid to the end July. We would absolutely love for you to be a part of what is happening at MCY.
- If you are interested in swimming Long Course '24 please let us know by Wednesday, May 1st as we will open registration to members that were not on our 2023 - 2024 Winter Short Course team that night after our first practice. We invite folks to come out to the first couple of practices on a trial basis and we can discuss options after those first two practices if unsure.
- We look to have a large group this summer ~ will you be a part?

- We usually try to have two or three social activities, bike riding, trail running, camp outs, cookouts...ask Coach Pam or Coach Jim about this opportunity.

- The first half of team fees need to be paid by May 1st to hold your place on the team.
Long Course is the summer training team for the MCY Marlins and we train in Piqua and at the Robinson Branch YMCA's.
- Most of our Swimming Competitions will take place in 50 meter pools most are outdoors (long course) rather than 25 yard pools (short course), hence the name Long Course for the summer meets.
- Meets are typically in the Cincinnati area, although we are looking into some closer dual meets in a 25 meter pool, we will let you know as soon as we know anything on this front.
- The team is typically for more experienced, older swimmers, although we will train newer swimmers as well.
- We often have former college swim team members in this program, any who are college age are welcome to be on the team for training AND meet purposes to train for college teams. Unfortunately, we no longer have room for individuals who just want to train for training-sake. We are looking to train and have swimmers interested in competitions in the SWOYSL for the summer.
-We are especially interested in helping out and training swimmers from our area High Schools to stay in "swimming-shape" for next year's winter High School season ~ Anna, Bethel, Covington, Miami East, Northmont, Piqua, Russia, Sidney Lehman, Tipp City, Troy and Troy Christian.

The program fee for the MCY 2024 Long Course team is $200.00, meet fees are charged individually/per event/per meet. Program Fee subject to change due to increased/decreased fee schedule.
Fees for the Long Course season are due on the following schedule:

Meet fees are billed separately with a $75 pre-paid account amount to draw from at the beginning of the season, or you may pay as the meets come during the season. *A Cost Report is sent to all participating swimmers for each meet before the check is cut, please make sure to read these carefully as this will be the amount you are required to pay. Reach out to Coach Pam immediately if you find a discrepency.
Meets will be added to our website as soon as they are confirmed through the Southwest League, please see those on our home page and on our League Website at www.swyswim.org. Our first meet of the summer will be the PCY Long Course Sprint meet at the Powel Crosley Jr. YMCA in Cincinnati an outdoor 50 meter pool on Saturday, June 1st. Plan on joining in on the fun of Summer Long Course Swimming.
